Thursday morning we took a cute trolley tour of the town of Newport and
of the HUGE mansions there in Newport! We got to go inside one of them
called The Breakers, where the Vanderbilt’s lived. A lot of wealthy
people built their summer “cottages” here along the coast in Newport and many
of them are still owned by those same families… or other celebrities like Jay
Leno. They are NOT cottages, but HUGE mansions and no expense was spared
to build them—CRAZY!!! After, we drove back to Massachusetts and parked
our car there overnight and took the ferry over to Martha’s Vineyard
Island. We stayed the night there in a cute little hotel in
Edgartown. It is such a cute and quaint little island. We had
dinner at a restaurant that was part of the hotel and then played Shanghai
after until we went to bed. We regret not having more time to explore
because we have to leave tomorrow morning. It would be fun to come
back here!
