Not calling the Savior a stranger, but walking in His footsteps has led me to learn SO much more about Him!
One day this last week, we were just going about our day and this scripture came to my mind: "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief..." (Isaiah 53) Oh boy are there times when we are rejected and despised of men here on the mish. And oh man there are definitely moments where I feel acquainted with grief! BUT! The awesome thing is that I GET to feel those things! Because, when I am feeling those things, I am standing with the Savior and I wouldn't want to stand anywhere else! There are also so many moments of pure joy! I LOVE these people and I know that the Savior loves them too!
I have learned a ton by walking in the footsteps of so many strangers. We visit and talk to people from all walks of life and each and every person has a unique story! I have learned so much that I never knew I never knew or never knew I wanted to know!
Now let's talk about PROMPTINGS. OKAY, promptings come as thoughts to the head with feelings in the heart. I have been really working on following the guidance of the Spirit this last week and I am learning that COOL things happen when we follow promptings and even the ones that SEEM small... Long story...
We went on exchanges (switched companions) on Thursday and Sister Delaney and I wanted to focus on following any promptings we got! So we got in the car and a thought came to my head to go to a park and when I said something Sister Delaney was like, "No way me too!" So we headed to the nearest park and got to talk to some neat people! So that was the first small prompting of the day...
Later in the day we were looking for this man that Sister Delaney has been trying to get in contact with for months but we couldn't find him. Then, we both saw this man across the street and we felt like we should talk to him so we did! We had a good conversation with him and then right as we were leaving... The guy she had been looking for just walks by!! So Sister Delaney finally got to find this guy because we followed a prompting that seemed completely unrelated!
Then, later that day we felt like we should go down to the park by Lake Superior (a bit of a drive) but we decided to go! And again, we met a girl who just looked like she wanted to talk to us and she introduced us to the group she was with and we had a really good talk with them! It was such a fun day!
I've also heard it said, that when we follow promptings, we get more and it's easier to recognize them as promptings the more we follow them! So... Follow Promptings! Even if they seem insignificant!
Some other cool things:
- Got to go to Wisconsin yesterday! (Lol yes it is in our areas)
- We apparently ACTUALLY had a TORNADO where we live (which never happens) but we were in Wisconsin when it happened! We were sad because we wanted to see it...
- Catie and David are AMAZING. They are so good at recognizing God's hand in their lives and they live the gospel so well already! Lol, a lot of times I learn from them more than the other way around... LOVE THEM and SO EXCITED for Saturday!
- The members here are THE BEST!
- BIRTHDAYS :) Happy late birthday to my mom!!! and happy early birthday to Grace/Liz!!!
I love you all and love to hear from you!
Love, Sister Freeman
P. S. For anyone that feels like they are dying or drowning in life, remember CPR! Go to church, Pray, and Read the scriptures! Just like CPR, they have to be done repeatedly! They are life SAVING! And so is our Savior! He is the lifeguard that walks on water!
