Sometimes it is hard to constantly and consistently see God's hand in our lives. We are told to always have a prayer in our hearts and to always remember Him. That sounds so simple but it is also so hard! Alas, I know that as we strive to do this, our lives will be blessed.
As I have been working on this this week, I have noticed tiny tender mercies and small miracles every day!
On Tuesday, we had zone conference in Duluth! (Duluth is like a mix of Ireland and San Francisco all in one! It is just the best!) Zone Conference was so good! President Barney talked about Christ's Atonement and how intimate it is. He talked about how Christ, when He was on earth, would heal people ONE BY ONE. Or how He took the little children and blessed them one by one. Or how He let people see Him and feel the prints in h\His hands and side ONE BY ONE. Christ suffered for everyone but He also suffered very individually! I think a lot of times we think of Him suffering for sins in general, or depression in general, or heartache in general but no! He suffered your sins and guilt and pain exactly how you experience them! He suffered for your very individual case of depression in every way that you feel it! He suffered each of our day to day trials! Someone used the metaphor that if you stubbed your toe, Christ would go stub His toe just to know how you feel! I know that Christ knows what we are going through and is there for us! We just have to come unto Him. The rest of Zone Conference was also awesome and super fun! Afterwards, we got to go see Lake Superior and it was just so gorgeous up there! On the drive home, I was super tired and my eyes would be tired from squinting a lot, but at one point, I realized that it was cloudy! And what a tender mercy that was!
We are teaching the CUTEST family right now. They have 6 kids all under 5 and 3 of them are triplets! The Mom and Dad that we are teaching are planning on getting baptized on August 3rd and we are SO EXCITED. It already amazes me how much the gospel has blessed their family and how much they love it! Their kids are THE cutest! Ah I just love them so much!
On Friday, we were under a tornado watch! The sirens kept going off and the weather was acting really weird but it was fun! For some reason, Sister Penaflor and I weren't really worried at all and then later, we overheard some people talking and apparently the city just north of us got hit pretty hard and it was headed our way but then the storm basically went around the city we were in! What a tender mercy! And it only ever poured rain when we were indoors! It was crazy but I definitely felt God looking out for us that day! :)
On Saturday, we had a pretty rough day. It was super rainy and some of the things we were excited for didn't work out so we were a little sad but then we came across this nice man who had the cutest dog! (She was a Labradoodle! My dream!) He ended up taking like 10 minutes out of his nap time and showed us all of her tricks! She was so cute! It made my day and made us happy and the rest of the day went great! Like I said, I don't think we meet people like that by coincidence. God knows exactly what we may need to completely turn our day around. We have met a lot of people and talked with a lot of people. I have no doubt (whether they accept our message or not) that we are placed in each other's paths for a reason! These people have incredible stories and experiences and I have learned a ton from them! I am growing to love these people, even after maybe only knowing them for like 5 minutes. We help each other in small ways and it can make a big difference!
Life is hard. Things happen. But God really does have a plan for each of us and if we pay attention, we can see His hand in our lives in big ways! I love you all tons and I know that God loves you too! For any of you who are looking for answers to prayers, make a conscious effort to find God's hand in your life! I promise He is there with His hands outstretched!
Love, Sister Freeman
P.S. I would love to hear about the small tender mercies you experience in your life if you want to shoot me an email!
Pictures (and lots of 'em):
1-7. DULUTH & LAKE SUPERIOR
8-13. Tornado watch. We couldn't get a good picture or video to see how weird the weather was acting but we stayed dry and it POURED when we were inside but then when we went outside again it was fine!
14. These people are amazing!
(The guy on the end loves to travel and ride his motorcycle and has some really cool stories! Haha I thought of Todd and how badly he wants a motorcycle lol but he did say they are super dangerous! He has had a couple close calls but anyway he is so cool!) (And the lady in the middle is AMAZING. She has traveled so many places doing humanitarian work and that's how she knew Sister Penaflor because they worked together when the Tsunami hit the Philippines! They have so many neat experiences and stories! Love them!)
15. This is Dan! He loves Sister missionaries and always asks for snacks and to take pictures haha
