Another thing that I am learning is just how important faith is. Holy moly faith is so cool and so important! Faith is what leads to miracles and all good things! Think about the Brother of Jared when he asks the Lord to touch the stones to make light (found in Ether 3). The Brother of Jared lays 16 stones in front of the Lord who, at this point has just been a cloud of light to him. He has faith that the Lord can make these stones into light so his people won't have to travel in darkness. The Lord touches the first stone... from the Brother of Jared's perspective, he is thinking "Woah! It worked!" Then he keeps having faith until the next stone turns and the next! At this point his faith has been confirmed so many times that he actually sees something. He sees the hand of the Lord! His faith became so strong that he knew! And then once he saw the hand and all 16 stones lit up, his faith enabled him to see the Lord fully! GUYS. This is what faith can do! It starts with just believing that God is there or believing that He can do something and then, one by one, as different small experiences (stones) confirm our faith, we grow to know! Faith really can move mountains and show us miracles in our lives!
We had an AMAZING fireside on Sunday. It was actually the same guy that came to talk to BYU students last year and I loved it then and it was even better this time around! He showed us different pictures of missionaries before and after their missions or people before and after learning about the gospel and those pictures were crazy! The light in these people's eyes and the transformation in their whole appearance was astonishing! They looked so happy and bright! The basic point he made was that you can get a makeover and maybe look tons better but you can't make someone over to have that light in their eyes. That only comes from inside. The Lord works on us from the inside out and it shows! A big part of the way he can transform us is when we serve others and be as he was!
I challenge y'all to look outward! We become better when we do (but not if we are only looking outward for ourselves because that is still looking inward lol if that makes sense).
Just a cool little thing: We were teaching our friend Josh who is just so fun and so friendly! We were teaching him about his relationship with God. He told us that he sees God as this harsh football coach kind of figure and I explained to him how God is our father and loves us and that we have a very personal and unique relationship with Him according to our needs just like people have unique relationships with their fathers on earth. As we were talking he had this aha moment and light in his eyes like he understood and recognized all of a sudden this wonderful truth! I love the joy that this gospel brings to people!
I also challenge you to read the Book of Mormon! There is this video called The Book of Mormon Experiment which was performed by college students and it's pretty neat! Read the Book of Mormon and experiment with it! See what happens :)
A funny thing:
So apparently I am a gangster? Our district does this thing where we drop a beat and give someone three words (about the Gospel) and they have to rap it up. Or sometimes we rap hymns or children songs lol. Anyways, as we were walking back from playing soccer, Sister Payne and Sister Hill dropped the beat and told me to go and I said "If your happy and you know it clap your hands!" in my super cool rapping voice and EVERYONE around us clapped their hands lol. I was pretty embarrassed but now I'm a gangster Haha.
Also! Send love to my teacher! He is proposing to his girlfriend tomorrow and he is super nervous! Hehehe we are so excited!
I love you all!
Love, Sister Freeman
