Japan Day 5- Meiji Jingu Shrine and the Harajuki Shopping District
2.19.2020

Wednesday we went to our group breakfast and morning meetings. Then we had a Jones lunch together at the hotel and then a half day city tour. We went to the Meiji Jingu shrine which is a Shinto (not Buddhist) shrine. (Sensoji was Buddhist.) After we went to the Harajuki shopping district and walked down Takeshita street. I found a lotus flower charm for my bracelet. (Later learned that lotus flowers bloom in very muddy/murky water which the Japanese say is very symbolic... in life it doesn’t matter your circumstances... you can grow and “bloom” under any conditions! I like that! It made me like my charm even more after I learned this! After the tour, dad and I went and got some Japanese tempura at a swanky restaurant by our hotel. It was so good! They gave us an appetizer that we didn't order of baby squid...I hesitated and the cute chef behind us said, "Try!!!" So I did and it was pretty good... not something I'm going to rush home and make but ok! Another yummy dinner!! (I'm getting better at chop sticks, too!)
