Greece Day 7-- Patmos!

This was my favorite day of our 15 day vacation! The weather was so cool and nice and there was a light breeze the whole day! This island is known as the island where John wrote the Book of Revelation. We had a half day excursion where we visited the Byzantine Monastery of the Apostle John the Evangelist. It had outstanding frescoes and interior decoration! We visited the nearby cave where it is thought that John stayed during his exile and wrote Revelations. Jim pointed out that there are hundreds of caves on the island and it could've been anywhere and that John wasn't imprisoned, just exiled here and was able to freely wander the island. We sang a hymn in the cave and it was kind of cool to think that might've been where he stayed! We returned to the boat by tender and got our swimsuits on and went back to a nice beach where we waded in the water for a bit! It was fun to visit with all the other people in our group. Mealtimes have also been fun to get to know everyone, as well!
