We enjoyed such a yummy breakfast in the hotel-- they've been so good here! We had a morning tour of the Acropolis and yes, we hiked all the way up that hill to get there! The Acropolis has several different buildings/ruins with the main one being the Parthenon. Just below the temple is Mars Hill where Paul gave his sermon and the close by town center where he probably would've taught, as well. After we toured these ruins, we went to the FABULOUS museum just down the hill from it. The museum had see through floors because they found more ruins of where people lived at the same time. In order to preserve them, they built over them and put a clear floor in so you could see them! So cool! We had a great guide today who explained really well all of the different aspects of the ruins! A lot of the statues and ruins are in the Brittish Museum and are missing in the mock ups they made of the Parthenon, but the Brits don't want to give them back! It was a wonderful and so very interesting museum! After, we took a bus tour of the city and saw many interesting sights including the stadium where Athens hosted the first modern olympics, the Marathon runner statue (the marathon began in Greece and has a cool history), the arch of Apollo's temple, etc. We boarded our Star Clipper tonight around 4pm and sailed late that evening around 10pm or so. It was a full moon and the reflection on the water was so pretty! Tomorrow we have a day at sea!
