Dryscooping hot cocoa, lessons with nursing cats, and aligning with God's will! (Katelyn's Letter)

7.11.2022

Hey y'allll!

Hope all is well and life is good! This week went by so fast and yet so slow at the same time haha. It's true when they say the days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like days! But anyway Hal is ON DATE for the 16th. He is so awesome and receptive to the gospel and the happiness it gives! He also gives THE BEST prayers! They are so innocent and humbly filled with faith!

Seeds of Faith
So this week has been a theme of not doubting God and accepting His will! At the MTC the Spirit/God told me many times to "stop doubting and let me work!" I feel like many of us try to force ourselves to change in the way we want but what will truly make us happy is changing in the way God wants!!! So let Him work and trust that the person He wants you to be will be better by far than anyone you can become on your own! We are teaching a guy named Alvin who has a speech impediment. It was really hard to understand him but something he said has stuck with me clear as day this whole week. We asked him what he would do if Jesus came to him and asked him by name to follow him. He immediately responded and said, "I'd be right behind you Jesus!"

*INVITATION*
What do you need to do to be more in line with following Jesus and be right behind Him? Ponder and figure out what you need to do and then do it! I promise you will be happier as you submit to God's will more in your life!

Pockets of Fun
-We barbecued in pouring rain on the 4th of July so that was a first for this AZ girl but they were good and moist haha!
-We had to get our oil changed (Toom and Tommy are apparently on a first name basis with the car people haha). In the three hours we had to wait, I managed to find hot cocoa powder in the coffee area which was a surprise here since most people only drink coffee. But the hot water was broken!!! So saddd! So I ended up just drinking hot cocoa powder which wasn't bad until my comps made me laugh and I got the powder ALL OVER MY FACE AND EYES. I know the workers there think I'm crazy but its fine haha!
-THE WACKIEST LESSON EVER: So we are meeting this couple and their son for the first time and the son hands me a baby --cat super super cute but then its ONE EYED momma joins it on my lap and starts NURSING IT. So I have those cats and their MILK on my lap the whole lesson! Then Tommy is over here teaching the first vision super spiritual but she had a fetching SNAKE painted on her face from a carnival we went to right before for a part member family party. (We joked we could teach the Adam and Eve story with Tommy's freaking snake on her face cuz she could have chosen a butterfly or flower but of course she did a snake.) THEN at the end a GINORMOUS BUG flies into Toomers hair and she has to calmly *screaming inside* ring it out onto the ground where it's so big that it makes a THUD noise. So that was a great lesson for all three of us but we are teaching the family again so we must have done something right HAHAHA!

Counting Blessings
-TEMPLES and the blessings they offer
-Country Music (I know you disagree mom but its the best heehee)
-SOUTHERN BARBEQUE (I finally tried fried Okra and it's bomb)
-Pillow talk with my comps:)
-Hearing other people's perspectives and experiences
-SEEDS! (I'm gonna grow some wildflowers from some seeds a sister missionary gave me. I love the symbolism seeds have with faith and small seemingly unimportant things becoming amazing creations all unique and beautiful in different ways!)

Southern Vocab
Buggy: a shopping cart! Don't mistake it for a horse and buggy haha.

Pictures!
1. Fun park pictures (I may or may not have swung down the zip line ride thingy)
2-4. 4th of July and the elders barbecuing in the rain and some wack sparklers that smoked a lot haha
5. Took a selfie with someone's pet pig
6. Cute little frog!
7. Members gave us a gift card to an AMAZING Thai restaurant --so yummy!
8-10. The best trio ever! I love them so much<3
11. We tried partner yoga haha didn't really work
12-13. Barbeque (I have a pork rind in my mouth which is interesting) and Tommy's snake face paint hahaha!

hello
Hello! I’m Mindy. I love Spring and Fall weather, the BYU Cougars, reading, hiking and of course…my family! I LOVE being with them doing just about anything…but usually attending one of their games or just hanging out!
