Bryce Canyon Half Marathon!!

7.09.2022

Yesterday we headed to Bryce Canyon with Mary, Ruby, Henry, Hyrum and Bill,  for the race and saw some beautiful country!! Jenell had a motel room we stayed at in Tropic and we (Jenell, Mary and I) walked to the park to pick up our packets. I made my homemade spaghetti and we ate dinner outside on a pic nic table with another family from Jenell’s ward who was there running the race. (Stacee Stott) They brought salad and yummy rolls and we had watermelon and it all tasted FANTASTIC!!!! So good!! (We heated the spaghetti in the microwave and made the noodles in an Instapot! Pretty good meal for no kitchen!! It was a warm but pretty day and cool with a breeze in the shade! The kids and Jenell swam at the pool. I stuck my feet in…

We got up at 4am for the race— sleeping in for a race for me because we caught the bus right across the street from the hotel and it’s a lot smaller than the ones I’ve run… not nearly as many people!! It was great!! The first half was all very downhill but the second half was a bugger with a lot of hills— mile 11 had a big hill! I managed to run it most of the way but I had to walk that mile 11 hill for a bit! Our motel was about mile 8 so Bill and the kids came out and cheered us on then went back to bed!! They had the fun job!  I wondered how not training would affect my body— I felt really not bad today but I bet tomorrow I will be SOOOOO SORE!  No injuries, so that's good!! I worried that maybe my knees would give out or something else but I’m fine— just sore!!! Jenell, Mary and I are all walking like old ladies because they didn’t really train either!! Hahaha! We laugh at each other every time we watch someone go up stairs, sit down or try to get in/out of a car!! My calves and quads hate me and my lower back hurts— I think from all the steep downhill. Mary had the same problem. I was glad to be finished! It was hot and the sun was in my eyes for the 2nd Half. We ended at a shady park and I waited for Jenell and Mary. They wanted to walk on all the uphill parts and I wanted to just get it done!! ✔️!! It was fun at the park after!! We ate breakfast of bagels and fruit and chocolate milk! That’s what tasted the best to me!!! We showered back at the motel and headed back to Kanosh. At the very end of all my pictures, are the pictures I got from the race photographers!  There were a lot of them-- pretty cool!

Hello! I’m Mindy. I love Spring and Fall weather, the BYU Cougars, reading, hiking and of course…my family! I LOVE being with them doing just about anything…but usually attending one of their games or just hanging out!
