Unite Fitness Retreat-- Day 4
9.09.2020

After our shakes we took a gorgeous morning hike in City Creek Canyon. It was freezing! So cold my ears were hurting! I did not pack warm enough clothes because it was not forecasted to be so cold! (I bought a Unite warm-up jacket, but I was still cold! It was really a beautiful hike, though. We got to see the Capital building peeking up as we walked down the canyon! We saw firsthand all the damage the storm did, and also some funny signs in peoples yards. This is a very liberal area so that explained them, and all the Biden/Harris signs! (Didn't want a picture of those! Hahaha!) Found some wild sunflowers and took a few pictures for Brooke! We headed back in the vans for they gym and got to eat a yummy breakfast with a green smoothie that was SO GOOD! We did strength training with Matt this morning. That was REALLY hard for me! They were difficult movements with the weights but even the warm up was hard with burpees and squats, etc. Holli taught the Pilates class and that was MAJOR hard! I am NOT flexible and it took all I had to try to get into the positions and movements that she was doing-- some harder than others. I've definitely learned a lot about my weaknesses here! During lunch the Dietitian, Brooke, came and talked about various diets that are popular right now and ways to eat healthy and several "super foods" that jump start our health. She is so awesome! Such a cute and spunky person! I was writing notes so fast! After lunch we did a short but very steep hike up to Ensign Peak! I've always heard about this peak, but had never hiked it! It was worth it though because the view was amazing when we reached the top! We got to tell the people in our group a little about the history and significance of the peak. Trish was one of the trainers that went with us and I just really like her! She is always so positive and upbeat and nice to be around. Mobility class was taught by Trish and we rolled our muscles with balls-- laying on them and putting pressure on them. It hurt but felt good??? She really found all of our sore spots!!! (The trainers are good at that!! Hahaha!) After dinner tonight, Bill and I got to have massages in our room! I went first and then Bill! It felt amazing and I definitely felt ALL of my sore muscles but our message therapist was so good and really nice. Her name was Jourdan. (We found out that she's dating a guy from Fillmore-- a family Bill knows. Small world!) The massages were very relaxing and we had a great night's rest because of them!
