Richmond, VA!
5.04.2023

We toured Richmond, VA today and took in as much as we could for the 1 day we were here. We toured the John Marshall house first. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting! Then we went to the old Tredegar Iron Works which is now the American Civil War Museum. This was so interesting and I learned so much about the Civil War. Richmond, of course was the Capitol of the Confederacy. Then we went to the St. John's Episcopal Church where Patrick Henry gave his famous "Give me liberty or give me death", speech. The Revolutionary War started less than a month later... This was a beautiful church with all sorts of headstones surrounding it. We took a short tour inside the church where the lady explained where Patrick Henry probably stood when he gave his speech. It was very interesting. The picture of me alone in front of the small entrance is how big the church was when it was first built. They added on many times after that. I found this cute mural as we were driving! On our way out of Richmond, we drove by the White House of the Confederacy. Robin got out and took these pictures. We headed back toward Allison's house and drove to Smithfield for dinner. We ate at Farmer's Table and had the best burgers-- YUM-- so good! I took this picture for Katelyn, since we always tell each other, "I love you to the moon and back". I'm gonna send it to her! Hard to believe she's only about a six hour drive away!!
