Face Christ Through Your Fears! (Katelyn's Letter)

5.29.2023

HEY Y'ALLL!

Super busy week as ALWAYS (sorry if these are too long heehee) but here's a glimpse!

Seeds of Faith
In Neal A. Maxwell's talk, “Lest Ye Be Wearied and Faint in Your Minds” he says:

Therefore, how can you and I really expect to glide naively through life, as if to say, “Lord, give me experience, but not grief, not sorrow, not pain, not opposition, not betrayal, and certainly not to be forsaken. Keep from me, Lord, all those experiences which made Thee what Thou art! Then let me come and dwell with Thee and fully share Thy joy!”

We cannot become all God needs us to without the oppositions we face. So face them looking towards Christ who faced them ALL!

Gratitude
-My mission has been a garden of roses but it would not be as beautiful or meaningful without every single thorn!
-Gallman FRAMED his baptism program and my letter to him for his baptism:,) Makes me so happy that he sees and remembers the importance of that day to put it up for others to see!
-Super fun pday camping/hamicking with the district (definitely did not play cup pong and poker as missionaries ahem) and I faced my fears and took the dare to go inside a sketchy tree aha so scary!
-Met some AMAZING people and I'm so grateful for the deep and uplifting conversations we get to have everyday!
-WENT ON AN EXCHANGE WITH THE SLAYING QUEEN HERSELF... Risky and I caught up on everything from our greenie days--literally love her with my whole heart! We talked for a LONG time and she is just so so strong and loving and relatable for everyone! Go get yourself a Sista Risky y'all!
-Played charades for a lesson with the McElroys. They are SO FUN! It was a party and a half!!
-We've had critters hanging out on our car LITERALLY EVERYDAY this week. Mostly spiders but ONE day it was a lizard just hanging out as we were driving bahah!
-JOHNNY AND KAYE GOT BAPTISED THIS WEEK AHHHH!!! So so happy! There were so so so many miracles along the way and they have come so far in every aspect of their lives! God is just so good. Johnny was even able to walk into the font (his legs are mostly numb y'all--he's basically paralyzed) and face all his fears as he trusted Brother Martin to push him down and lift him back up out of the water and basically carry him back to the changing rooms. God's spirit and strength was so strong! It was miraculous to watch both Johnny and Kaye make this step closer to God with everything they have faced.
-But that's not all folks 'cuz WILLIE GOT BAPTIZED TOOOOOOOO. HOLY MOLY if I could just tell y'all how good and hardworking and kind this guy is it would still fail to express the faith and trust that Willie has in Jesus Christ to help him through everything he faces. He has been battling smoking for so so long but his baptism proves that Christ overcame all. After it he said he just feels pure and peaceful. So so great! I look up to him so much!!
- I can't express how much the people here mean to me. I have learned so much through their wise and charitable examples! They have taught me more lessons than I could ever teach them as a missionary-- FOR REAL!
-GOT TO GO SEE SISTER HARRIS TODAY (now Katie haha) and y'all it was SO amazing! I missed her so much. She just glows... but it also made me realize how surreal going back home will be when the day comes. I just wanna embrace every single moment here ahhh! Also surprised my BESTIE MISSION MOM Sister TOMMY when we FaceTimed her. IT WAS SO FUN! I love her with everything!!

Don't forget how much I love y'all!!! Go face your fears this week. They are there for a reason!

hello
Hello! I’m Mindy. I love Spring and Fall weather, the BYU Cougars, reading, hiking and of course…my family! I LOVE being with them doing just about anything…but usually attending one of their games or just hanging out!
