Kinda wack to think that this week I will hit a YEAR on my mission! It has gone by SO fast! It's unreal! And I feel like it just keeps going faster!
We had some crazy cool things happen this week!
Monday night we got to have a bunch of lessons and then randomly one of our friends that we hadn't been teaching super actively texted us and said, "I wanna get baptized" and we were like :0 haha so we called her and had a lesson to talk about why she wanted to get baptized and she said she wanted to come closer to Christ and live with Him again! What a perfect answer! So we are going to start teaching her again. Hopefully her parents will let her get baptized!
Later that night we got to have a lesson with Dah Wah! And it was amazing to watch him help his nephew read the Book of Mormon! Wow this work is so much bigger than a bunch of missionaries teaching people because then those people go and teach people and this good news just spreads and someday, everyone will be able to hear about it! :)
That happened another time this week when one of our friends wanted us to call because she had a friend over and she wanted her to learn too! Once again it was so cool to see her teach her friend about the Book of Mormon and how amazing the stories are!
Funny story from the week! Haha we had transfers this last week and so on Wednesday night we had a Sister stay with us from Duluth and at one point we had some lessons so we had them go to a missionary apartment that's next door and so they kind of just went off to do their own thing but then we get this text from them saying that something's wrong and that we need to come over there fast! Haha so we go over and they had found a chicken and unicorn suit and sang and danced for us! Wow it was out of this world! So funny!
Transfers this week brought 5 new missionaries to our zone! Woot woot!
During one of our lessons this week, Sister Norton was talking and I was just kinda thinking and a thought popped into my head that we should teach them the Plan of Salvation next time and I thought that was kinda weird because we were teaching the first half of the Restoration so naturally we would teach the other half next time so I was kinda fighting that prompting... (At this point I was not listening to my companion #badcompanionmoment) but then out of nowhere I just here Sister Norton bearing testimony about God's plan for us! That was the confirmation to me! So we asked if we could teach that to them next time and they seemed excited! I'm excited for that!
Another cool lesson this week! We've been teaching one of our friends for a while and have invited her to be baptized but she seemed scared and we kept feeling like something was holding her back! We had been trying to figure out what was holding her back and then we didn't have a lesson with her for a while. Then this week we made a video for our Karen Facebook page about repentance and she watched it and really liked it! We told her we could maybe talk about it more and call her and she was really happy to do that! So we had a lesson about repentance and about the sacrament and oh boy was that the perfect lesson!! She opened up about her big concern all on her own and it helped us understand why she was so scared! And THEN! We were able to give her so much hope! Wow is this gospel a gospel of hope and joy! THAT lesson is what makes everything we do worth it! All the hard days and moments are worth it when even one person is given hope because of what we teach! Wow I just love this work!
We had an area devotional with Elder Christofferson yesterday and he talked about personal revelation. He told a story about when he was younger and he went to the Sacred Grove and prayed that God would help him to know the truth and he expected something to happen there in the sacred Grove but then nothing did. He talked about how we ought not to dictate to God when, where, or how he speaks to us but we rather need to be ready to hear him at all times and in all places! That really stood out to me! And then he talked about how he was grateful God didn't answer his prayer right then and there because then he might have thought that he had to go somewhere special to receive revelation when in reality it can and does happen in sometimes random places! I especially liked what he said at the end: "You don't have to be anywhere special or be anyone special to hear God!" I love that! I know that God wants to speak to all of us and He will speak to us in His timing and ways! We just have to open our hearts and be ready!
I love you all and hope you have the best week!
