So most of our lows came from days of lessons not working out or our friends going through some hard times but something I really realized this week and got to help some of our friends realize is how valuable it is to FIND THE GOOD in our circumstances! Boy having an attitude of gratitude can completely change everything!
OK now for the highs :)
Boy I don't know where to start!
We've started teaching some really amazing people that God has SO led us to find! This gospel is exactly what people are looking for and it is so fun to be able to give it to them!
We had a ton of people that we kind of fell out of contact with come back this week! Man our joy is full!
Despite loads of lessons falling through we also had loads of lessons go through and so many mini miracles!
OK now Dah Wah!! This guy is THE BEST! We read the Book of Mormon and he points out things that he is learning and applies it to himself! And in another lesson this week his little nephew wanted to join in on our lesson and he had questions and Dah Wah answered them! It's so cool to see Dah Wah come so far! He's THE BEST!
One of our friends that we've only met pretty recently had some hard things go down in his life this week but on a particularly hard day for him, he just wanted to call us and pray with us! Wow that just really struck me that we are who he turned to to find peace! And it also really amazes me how close we can feel to these people who under normal circumstances are pretty much strangers but somehow aren't? Haha. God has really blessed us to see these people like He does and love them!
OK Y'ALL Karen people LOVE the story of the tree of life! Every time we talk about that story in the Book of Mormon they just love it!! They really get it and see how it represents us! So many cool lessons this week talking about that story!
We had a really cool lesson come this week because we followed the direction given by our leaders! They asked us to do these learning classes in this app to teach us how to use technology! In the app it asked us to think of someone we are teaching and come up with a series of questions to get to know them better! As we were doing it I was kinda... doubtful? Haha normally it is so hard for me to figure out how to phrase get to know you questions in Karen and often times they don't really answer but we decided to do it! AND WOW we had a BOMB lesson! We really got to know one of the people we were teaching on a whole new level and got to teach her what she needed because of it! Wow I have a testimony that when we do what we are asked, good things happen! And it helped me have a break through with the language so it was just so cool!
We have this one person we are teaching (well several actually but) she loves the Book of Mormon! We read it in several lessons with her and applied it and those lessons were just so directed! She GETS it and LOVES it!! She even reads the real Book of Mormon! (Normally we just give our Karen friends the picture Book of Mormon) And she watches the videos so she can understand and she just loves it! Gosh I love the Book of Mormon!
We got in contact with one of our friends who we haven't seen in a while and had a lesson with her! She may have Corona so we will be praying for her and her family but we had an amazing lesson with her to kind of see more of God's perspective on life and on us and it was just really powerful to see her how God sees her and her potential! God has a plan for each of us and He gives us these experiences so we can learn and grow and become!
Yesterday we had a prompting to call this one girl we are teaching who we hadn't seen in a while and she answered and was free for a lesson! We had such a good lesson and she ended up posting on her story about how happy she was that we called!! Wow you never know!
I've had a lot of prayers answered this week that have come through the actions of people around me and we have been those answers too! You never know how God might be needing to use you so follow those promptings! Be that answer!
Lately we've been making lots of videos with the elders in our zone and that has been a blast! If y'all have any cool ideas, email me!
OK the last thing I want to talk about (sorry for the long email this week) is a training that an elder gave in our district council this week! IT WAS SO GOOD! Like LIFE CHANGING! Haha. So his training was about thoughts! He talked about how our thoughts are the root of everything we do and how we feel and our outlook! Our thoughts are everything! We have billions of thoughts every day and he talked about how a lot of our thoughts are angry or sad or jealous or prideful or self-criticizing or bad and how important it is to control those thoughts because they have an influence on our mood and our actions! He gave us two little books and in the "black one" he challenged us to write down every time we have a bad thought throughout the day and then in the "colorful one" we write down things we are grateful for or promptings we receive or happy thoughts! Man this has literally CHANGED US. It's so cool! I can't remember where he said this study was done or found but it really works and helps us be more aware of our thoughts and that being aware helps us think better! And be more happy! I can't explain it all that well but I think everyone should try it! Literally could change your life!
Man there is just so much love in my heart! Love for our Heavenly Father, love for our Savior, love for the beautiful people I'm here to serve, love for the wonderful missionaries I get to serve around, and love for my family and friends and really the whole world! I love this work! I've never been happier than I am being out here and being with these people and joying with them in their highs and helping them in their lows! I love you all and I pray you will feel God's love in miraculous ways this week!
