Today was ANOTHER stressful day! The first 2 pictures are of Katelyn at the campsite fishing. The next 2 pictures are ones I took as the houseboat was traveling to our campsite. (Ryan Bingham drove it.) The Bingham's, DeGraffenried's and Robin and I were on the boat. (There is a limit of 14 people when it's moving.) It was quite the process getting out of the marina this morning. It took FOREVER for the people to come on the boat and explain everything and then give us permission to leave. They were supposed to be there at 8am, but it ended up being more like 9:30. This place is very disorganized! We finally got away around 10am and made it to the camp site around 12:20 or so. It took longer because we made a wrong turn.
Bill drove our boat in to the marina to get the prop fixed while we were heading out to our campsite. We thought we'd see Bill, but Ryan took a wrong turn into another inlet, so it took some time to back track. We probably missed Bill during that time. As Ryan was parking the boat at the campsite, he forgot that Robin's jet ski was tied to the back of it and rammed right into it! It tweaked the front of it so the cover didn't latch over the motor. Jim had to take some duck tape to hold it down. It also caused damage to the fiberglass, so that all will have to be fixed. It just feels like these things just keep happening... (it gets worse...see below...)
This morning, we left Owen at the marina with the car keys so that Bill would have them to get our car and trailer to take the boat to the boat shop. The office wouldn't let me just leave the keys there, so Owen had to stay. (It ended up being a good thing, though...) Bill was able to get the prop fixed and he and Owen were about half way back to our campsite when our boat started to only go in circles. Something about the drive shaft and steering was off and the rudders would only go in one direction. I think it HAS to be related to the prop getting messed up, but Jim didn't think so. (I still think it does!) SOOOOOOOOOO, Nate Moore had to drive out to where Bill and Owen were with his boat and tow them BACK to the marina. Bill took the boat out of the water and back to the boat shop and they told him it would take at least 3 days to fix it. He decided to just leave it on the trailer with our car in the parking lot. He did everything as fast as he could (didn't clean up the boat or anything because Nate was waiting) and rode back to the camp without our boat. This was an expensive boat trip to haul our boat all the way up here, mess up the prop and everything else, and then to have it sit in the parking lot during the duration of our trip, and then to haul it back home! I was a good thing Owen was with Bill because they had to wait a while for Nate to get out to tow them back and Bill would've just been sitting there by himself. I'm glad Owen was with him.
As soon as things settled after we parked the houseboat the fun could begin... only with a dark cloud overhead about not having our boat. All the places I wanted to go with our boat were now out of the question, because no one else with a boat wanted to go to these places. (I wanted to go to Hole in the Rock and Rainbow Bridge. I also wanted to go to Horseshoe Bend, but realized that was too far away.) We were now at the mercy of other people to ride with and share their boats. Livingstone's and Moore's both had a boat and we had 3 jet skis at least...
As soon as we got there, I got off the boat and gave Katelyn a big hug! I felt so badly that she had to be out here alone with Brody all day yesterday! I took pictures of Katelyn and Brody's sand castle-- quite detailed it was! (They had all day to do it, so they really got into it!) The teenagers quickly got into play mode and jumped off the side of the boat and went down it's slide.
The last 4 pictures are ones that Bill took during his adventures today. Our poor boat.. the prop is totally mangled! I'm surprised he was even able to drive it back to the marina this morning! (He said it made a whizzing sound.)
We felt better after a really good dinner that the Livingstone's made. We had fajitas with chicken and carne asada-- so GOOD! Jamie was up to her normal tricks... she put a fart machine out during dinner tonight. We figured it out quickly but what was funny was that SHE was laughing so hard. The machine wasn't that funny, but her laugh is so contagious, that it made ME laugh. She's a lot of fun. There were many more Jamie antics as the week went along, but that's why we love her! She's so much fun-- she's just full of life and loves to joke and have fun and is always laughing!! That helped with my stress as it was a hard day to swallow! I started to relax a bit and except the fact that it would still be fun even if we didn't have our boat...
