Tonight for FHE we did something really special... We went to Wal-Mart and looked for people who might need some help. While we waited for them to do their shopping, we did some shopping. Then, when they went up to the register, when they weren't looking, we put our credit card in the reader and paid for their groceries. The first lady we did this for looked like a younger Grandma that was raising 2 young teenage girls. She looked tired to me. When she realized what we'd done, she started to get emotional and explain that she had $30 left in her account and had to ask her Dad for some money to get food. She kept saying thank you and "God bless you!" We all gave her a big hug!
Then the second family was a mom and her 2 young sons. She had a cart full of groceries and didn't even realize we had paid for the groceries, and when she discovered that we had, she just couldn't believe it. She kept saying, "No! No! No! You didn't have to do that!:" The cashier said to just go with it and that it was a done deal... and then he got all emotional-- this big black guy with tattoos! He was actually really fun! I think it made his day too, to see someone reach out and do something like that. This woman left and kept turning around saying, "I can't believe it!" We started to go out of the store, and she asked to get a picture with her. She asked if she could post it on social media. We didn't have any more "Light the World" cards (we only had one and we gave it to the first lady), so we told her about it and to be sure and visit the website. We told her to go and help someone in need. She was still in disbelief, but we exchanged hugs and got this picture together. We left Wal-Mart feeling so happy and uplifted. It felt good to serve complete strangers and help some of Heavenly Father's children on their way! (Below...Katelyn wants an ugly Christmas sweater!)
