Busy Day Touring Our Nation's Capitol!!!
12.26.2017

We got up early and hit the ground running today! We saw a lot of neat things! First, we went to the National Archives (closed last time we were in DC) and saw the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights! It was so cool to see those documents up close and in person with all the cool signatures on them! There was also a Vietnam exhibit there as well that we poked around a bit. Then Megan took us to the Hirshhorn Museum of Modern Art. This place was not my favorite, but we spent quite a lot of time there! Then we went to the National Air and Space Museum and then on to the Botanical Gardens-- I really enjoyed that! It was smaller than I thought it would be! We got pictures in front of the Capitol Building. The last time we came, we had a tour of it, but the kids don't remember ANY of that trip! Darn! We did some cool things! Then we met up with another one of Megan's baptisms-- Michael Bailey. We took him to lunch at a French restaurant that he'd chosen-- which was very pricey! (Bill and I laughed about that!) He is a really nice person, and again, he wanted to say a prayer before we ate, which made Megan so HAPPY! She said that is was fun to see the progress that the people she taught have made since her mission! We had a nice visit with him, and then we walked the mall and saw the different monuments together with him. We walked by the White House, the Washington Monument, and then up to the Lincoln Memorial. We were going to walk to the Jefferson Memorial, but it was getting late, and it was very cold that day. Everyone was tired of walking! Katelyn has particularly enjoyed seeing all the museums and monuments while we've been here. She's got such a curious mind! The last picture in this post is of her standing in front of the Washington Monument from the Lincoln Memorial. Due to the sun where it was in the sky though, you can't see the Washington Monument! Pretty cool, huh!?
