What a sweet and tender day! It was so enjoyable to remember the life of such a good woman who embodied so much goodness! I want to be like Lila when I grow up! She had such a cute wit and sense of humor-- so much fun to be around. I remember when I was a new Beehive and she was the Young Women President in our ward and we'd gone to Farrell's for ice cream (we got the Pig Trough!) and on the way home at a stop light, in their big station wagon, she let us all run around the car doing a Chinese Fire Drill-- I thought she was the coolest person ever, to let us do that! She giggled right along with all us girls! She was so loving and kind and you always felt so loved and included whenever you were around her, yet she wasn't loud or overbearing and didn't draw attention to herself. All 7 daughters have many of her wonderful qualities and they ALL inherited her sense of humor! Georgia, who took care of Lila and Waldo and lived with them, never got too far away from the casket. She has a special relationship with her mom and I'm sure it will be hard for her, as well as the rest of them to not have their mom around. It was so fun to see all of them today and laugh and remember their mom with them. I loved hearing all of their memories during the funeral and it was so nice to go to the viewing and have some time with them before the funeral got started. It was especially fun to see Susie again! Mom couldn't stay, but I would've loved to have visited with them after! It would've been so fun to catch up and enjoy that sweet family for a bit longer! All but Jackie live here in AZ. She lives up in Utah and Julie still lives in the Tucson area but all the rest are in the Mesa/East Valley area. We asked Georgia where they all live and Jackie was standing right there talking to us as well, and that's when Georgia turned to her and with her fun Rogers wit said, "Was it something we said?" referring to Jackie being the only one to live somewhere else. Jackie just chuckled her cute laugh-- just like Lila would've done. They live so close to us, and yet so far away as the demands of life get in the way! But good friends seem to catch up right where they left off, and that's what happens with the Rogers! What a beautiful family-- they've left a wonderful legacy with each of their daughters and their posterity! In the picture below, Susie is making us all laugh! I'm sure that's what Lila would've wanted on this day-- for everyone to laugh and be happy in remembering all the good in life! I sure love the Rogers family and am so glad to have been blessed with knowing Lila and Waldo and all of their children!
