Kinda short email (rereading this not so much lol) this week 'cuz I'm super lazy lol... BUT IT'S GOING TOO FAST AHHHHHHH!
Soooo President Hamblin announced the SCCM (South Carolina Columbia Mission) is SPLITTING into this and the Charleston mission in July!!!! THE WORK IS SPREADING AND SC IS JUST THE BEST. PEOPLE ARE SO SO READY FOR THE RESTORED GOSPEL<3
Also side note--I've heard a lot of prophecies about SC by General Authorities and one that this state would be a stronghold for the saints preparatory to the Second Coming and holy moly how I have seen that miracle come to pass! Even in the short span of my mission, people are just drawn to this place with no valid explanation. I've had at least one person in every single one of my 7 areas that said it was completely unreasonable to move out here but God told them to:,)
We did a mission wide missionary themed pumpkin carving contest and Mounty and I most definitely had the most creative one (not all the 1st Vision pumpkins went to the final judges) but I'm not bitter bahaha! I hope y'all had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN. (And didn't have to go home before 6:30pm that night lol!)
Also I have one of the most epic Districts with Elders Gibb, Switzer, Sisters Riska, Booker, Mounty, and I. We had our first District Pday with hot dogs, s'mores and country music and we will just call Sister Hillyer the Fire Queen for being able to start a camp fire with nothing but paper towels, a bowl, and the church's electric stove:| Don't ask questions baha!
Our friend Teresa is so sweet! Earlier this transfer we visited her and every time before we have had to bring her out of a funk because she struggles with depression. This time we decided to leave an alarm on her phone for 3 times a day to remind her to pray! Since then, every time we have gone over she has gotten happier and happier and just so smiley. It's awesome AND Sunday morning, *our church is at 11:30*, we go to visit her and she was up reading her Book of Mormon and the Restoration pamphlet we gave her!!! Y'ALL it is RARE to find people here--especially Baptists lol, who will read the Book of Mormon with out us specifically inviting them! BUT PRAYER IS LIFE CHANGING!!! We are going to use the prayer alarm lots more. My testimony of it has grown so much this week--literally night and day difference<3
Spiritual Thought:
On my exchange with THE SISTER HOMIE (we served togetha in Conway) we had a party. I have been struggling a lot lately with worrying about being where I need to be towards the end of my mission and to be ready to go home to normal crazy life haha. But as we were talking, I realized even if I didn't change or become anything at all on my mission, (which I know isn't true for anyone) that if all it did was build my relationship and reliance on God and His Son, I would have gained enough. If I can rely on God through anything, nothing else matters. I could make the same mistake over and over. I could backtrack and beat myself up again and again. I will fall, falter and stumble. Life will have trials and tribulations. I probably can't even imagine yet--I'm only 20! BUT I RELY ON MY HEAVENLY FATHER. I LET JESUS CHRIST HOLD MY HEART. If that is all I have learned to do, life can throw anything my way and They will get me through. "If He can lead you to it, He can lead you through it"-says my wise sassy Sister Christy. (Her wisdom is my "Vitamin C" lol!)
Southern Vocab:
Brunswick Stew: It has been a long fought over battle of this stew's origin between Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. It's got lots of meat and barbeque sauce and yumminess. I can't even describe it but it's heavenly. Also Sister Hill informed us: "If it doesn't have at least 3 pounds of meat in it, it's not Brunswick stew!"
ALSO it has been long argued what is the best base for barbeque sauce in South Carolina according to my authentic southern sources lol:
Upstate---> believes in vinegar
Aiken and Columbia---> believe in mustard (Aka South Carolina Gold Sauce)
And I guess the Coast---> believes in ketchup

*I take no stance since I've served in all those areas lol. (I've been told I'm the 7 wonders of SC since I've been to literally every mission zone here;)
ANYWAY LOVE Y'ALLLLLLL!
ANYWAY LOVE Y'ALLLLLLL!
P.S. Pray that my Southern accent flourishes these last 5 weeks aha!
