Day 2 Of Demolition! (And A Very CUTE Tortoise!!)

Before demo even started today, there was a cute little beast that wandered into our front yard.  We came to find out that he/she belongs to the Grover's down the street-- quite a long way for a guy this size to go!  (He'd gotten out during the wind storm last night-- so it took him all that time to get here!)  He was on a mission and making his BREAK!  I'm glad he didn't get run over on his quest!  Denise came and got him later, but Katelyn was all ready to ADOPT!  She even put out food-- lettuce and apples, for him to snack on while he waited for his recue-- apparently he's just like our dog, and gets out a lot.  When I picked Katelyn up from school she was bummed, but on the bright side, she can go visit him whenever she wants!

He'd wedged himself in a corner--probably to keep warm and out of the wind-- it was quite windy!

A lot happened today on our kitchen renovation, and by the end of it, there was only flooring, a stove and a refrigerator left standing in my kitchen!  I'm really getting excited for my new kitchen.  It will be beautiful!

All of our granite was successfully removed without incident (or breakage!)  This was the first piece to come out of the 6 total pieces!  WHEW!!  What a relief that we don't have to replace it!

I mopped the floors after they left to get all the dry wall dust off of them.  I don't want that nasty stuff to get ground in!  They vacuumed really well for me though-- all I had to do was mop!

I can't wait for the next phase!  Next Monday... CABINETS!!!  :) :)

(In the meantime, the painters and electrician are coming so that we have a fresh coat of paint and all the wiring done for the under-cabinet lighting and pendants.)
