Katelyn is studying medieval history at school and her teacher assigned her to do a report and replica of this cathedral. She had a lot of fun doing it and had very minimal help from her Dad this time, as his time was very limited with all that he has going on right now. I think she did a beautiful job and paid attention to all the little details of the architecture of this beautiful edifice. I think she was proud to turn this in!
What a fun night spent with Mom, Robin, Deanna Holdsworth and Sherron Burns. It was a very enjoyable girls' night out! What a powerful performance of beautiful, touching music! It was fun to see Allison perform as well. Joshua met us there and sat with us as well. My favorite songs were, "To Be American" and "My Kindness Shall Not Depart". To be American, and the words just reminded me of Megan and that she is serving in our nation's capital, and I felt such a strong sense of patriotism and pride. Megan is involved in the most "American" thing she could be doing by proclaiming the gospel here in this promised land that Heavenly Father has set aside as a great nation. And she's doing it in Washington DC!! I was really moved and felt the spirit so strongly during that song. I also loved "My Kindness Shall Not Depart"-- the lyrics were beautiful and express the love of a concerned and compassionate Savior! After the concert, we visited with Allison and took a few pictures. Then we left, and on the way home hit the Wendy's drive-thru for dinner. We laughed as we got all of our salads mixed up as it was dark and we couldn't see anything. We kind of annoyed the workers at the drive-thru. Eventually we got everything figured out and enjoyed our meals in the car. It was a beautiful night as well. It was cool and there was a nice breeze.
Today Katelyn played in her last regular season game at GP! We played North Pointe Prep and beat them 51-4. They had a perfect regular season in their conference. (They only lost 1 game but to a school out of their conference.) So the season record was 11-1 and 11-0 for their conference. They had a great season and these girls played so well together. They really played as a team all season. Next week is the playoffs and championship game! Here we GO!! Good luck girls! Let's get this championship!!
OK so just one more picture! I put up all the decorative stuff today and got it all put together...
I absolutely am in love with my new kitchen!! I feel like the sign says! We truly have a blessed life!
This week was so incredible! We had a few exchanges this week and lots of fun spiritual times. I will start out with our Zone Conference! We had Zone Conference on Thursday and it was so amazing. President Johnson and Sister Johnson
shared so many inspirational and motivational insights about the gospel. The theme was Diligence and AH I loved it! I had to give my departing testimony at Zone Conference along with all the other missionaries leaving this transfer and that was so emotional! I am so grateful for my mission. Reflecting on my mission filled my heart with so much joy! It doesn't seem real that I'm leaving!!!! It literally doesn't feel like it is going to happen! I am so glad that time is not here yet! I love the mission so much! I love testifying of our Savior. I love testifying of the hope and peace our Savior brings and that is something I will always strive to do.
Yesterday was so special! We had 'Why I Believe' at the Visitors' Center and the speaker for it was Mason Wells. Some of your might remember, but last year there was an attack at the Brussels airport that was very fatal and tragic. There was a group of missionaries transferring to new areas at the airport during the attack and Mason was one of the missionaries who was at the Brussels Airport when the bomb went off. He and the other missionaries he was there with were all injured pretty badly but they all survived it. Hearing his story was so neat. He has such a strong testimony of God's plan. His testimony of peace and comfort during hard times filled the room with the spirit and it was so neat to be able to feel of that. Before 'Why I Believe' started, President Johnson asked for the mission leadership to meet by the temple so he could offer a dedicatory prayer for the mission. So the Zone Leaders, APs, and Sister Training Leaders got to attend and it was probably one of the most spiritual experiences of my life. The spirit was so strong as President Johnson offered the prayer. I know that God can and will and has been helping our mission and that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we all can become better missionaries! It was so cool to be able to witness that.
Update on some people: Lauren is doing SO GOOD! She came to church yesterday and loved it. She accepted to be baptized when she found these things to be true. She is so amazing! Lauren just radiates the light of Christ! We need more people in the world like Lauren!:) I love her so much! Carter found some family history names to bring to the temple!!!!!! That was so exciting! I love Carter so much!! We have a new investigator named Tyler! He is dating a girl in the ward and has been surrounded by Mormon friends his whole life and wants to learn more! He is really awesome and just soaks up everything we teach!
I love you all so much! I hope things are going well for you all! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help any of you!! Or if you have any questions about anything! Have a great week!
-Sister Freeman
Yao Chen came to church last week! She was SO COOL! A member in our ward brought her to the
Visitors' Center and we got to take her around, and then she came to church the next day! She lives in San Francisco,
so missionaries there will be teaching her!
Sister Gomez and my 18 month pictures... hahahaha!
Brooke and I had fun having breakfast together this morning! I'm glad I was able to go with her... starting next school year, they aren't doing these anymore, so today was the last one! I love spending time with my kids and this morning was no different! We had fun!
Our yummy food...Brooke got pancakes and I got an omelet and oatmeal.
I spent the majority of my Saturday putting away all my stuff into my new cupboards and organizing my NEW kitchen! I'm so excited, and I'm thrilled with how it all came out! I just love to be in my kitchen. Sometimes I just stand there and stare at it! It's so bright and cheerful! Here are a few more pictures!
It was a great Friday evening at Katelyn's game! This was probably one of her best games EVER!!
She was on FIRE! It was so fun to watch her! Grandma and Grandpa Freeman were in town, so they got to see her play as well! They loved it too! (They are here for Bill's ordination to the office of Bishop-- that's happening on Sunday...it's been pretty crazy around here lately... we've got a lot going on and we haven't been able to tell anyone about Bill's new calling yet-- except for out of state family, etc., so it's been pretty wild!) Anyway, Katelyn was all over this court and was always right in the middle of EVERYTHING going on...she reads the court really well and gets to where she needs to be FAST! We won 47-22!!!
This beautiful girl comes home in exactly four weeks from TODAY!! I have loved her mission experience and have SO enjoyed living it right along with her! In a sense, her mission has been our mission as we've gone through these last 18 months! I can't wait to see her, but there is also a part of me that wants her to stay out...she's doing so well, she's protected, and doesn't have to worry about any other thing except for preaching the gospel. I'd say that's a pretty good life! But, missions are only 18 months and there's a reason for that, so it's almost time for the next phase in Megan's life. I can't wait for our joyous reunion!!
We had a very eventful day today! It started early this morning with a 2 hr. Orthodontist appt. for Katelyn! SHE GOT HER BRACES OFF AND SHE'S SO EXCITED!! That was fun and she looks so much older and more mature! That's so weird that she looks that much different with just her braces missing! High school her you come, Katelyn!
A few last pictures with the tin grin...
Pretty girl!
It just keeps getting better...a Snickers and movie tickets!
(Shouldn't the parents get the treats?? Hum...)
Return appointment, instructions for her retainer and her treats...
Treats!
Now the backsplash is going in as well...there's still a lot that needs to happen before this kitchen is finished, but it is getting more and more beautiful and I can see it all coming together so nicely!
I love the tile I chose! It's perfect!!
I'm so glad I chose to have the tile go all the way around the kitchen window and up to the ceiling like the cabinets! It's encased by tile chair rail to make the window look like a framed picture! This is definitely the focal point of the kitchen and I'm so pleased with how good it looks already!
A closer look...
And Brooke is OFFICIALLY 17!! Look at this cute picture Allie Hart posted on Instagram! I remember this day like it was yesterday...hum...it kinda seems like yesterday! I miss this age and how cute Brooke was as a 4 yr. old, but I love the beautiful young woman she is becoming!!
(Here's the whole picture...CC Brooksby is in the middle on the top row
and Anna Maskovich is on the right in the top row as well!)
This day just called for Sonic slushies! Yum!
Brooke's birthday and Katelyn's braces off were both reasons to celebrate!!
