We got up this morning and finished packing, ate breakfast and our Edward Jones group was headed out by 9am on our way up to Inverness. We stopped about halfway there at a castle called Blair Castle. This is my favorite castle so far here in Scotland! It was so pretty there and the castle is HUGE! It’s been very well kept and the grounds were beautiful. The castle was owned by the Stewart and Murray clans and was built in the turbulent 12th century. It has been restored to its former medieval splendor and is decorated with centuries-old furnishings, tapestries and works of art. We got to take a tour of the castle where there were a lot of swords and guns on display and also a lot of deer antlers the royalty had caught over years and years of living there. They liked their hunting! We walked around the ground after a yummy buffet lunch that was provided for us. The potato and leek soup tasted so good on a cold day! The grounds were gorgeous as all the fall leaves are changing colors—GORGEOUS!! We made it to Inverness and got checked into our new room here. It's a beautiful hotel! We relaxed in our room and I wrote my weekly letter to Katelyn. Our Theme Dinner for our trip was at Bogbain Farm tonight. It was really fun and they served some wonderful food--again, more haggis, but it was good!!! There was A LOT of drinking-- especially whiskey which Scotland is known for, I guess... They had a lot of entertainers that performed for us. When we arrived, the bagpipes were playing and throughout dinner we had performers. One sang and played the guitar, throughout dinner we had background performers playing the violin and the guitar, a lady sang a Scottish folklore type song, and then Gracie came and did some Highland dancing for us! She was the cutest thing and only 10 years old! She posed for pictures afterward, and we couldn't resist!! This has been such a wonderful trip with so much to do and see! Scotland is a beautiful country and the people here are so friendly and happy! Tomorrow we have another FULL day!
