We ate some weird things this week because of a variety of reasons (left over turkey and making a cookie video for some other sister missionaries).
This week's menu...
- turkey butternut squash enchiladas (delicious)
- homemade chicken noodle soup with turkey bone broth (delicious)
- sugar cookies from a bag... (yeah not so good especially after being put in the fridge next to the onions...)
- Sister Olavesons homemade buttermilk syrup recipe which Paw Bree Wah said reminded her of her dad's (that's you papa Freeman!) syrup.
Okay so now onto some stories! Hehe
-- First up, Nila Paw! She is someone we actually met a while ago at a members birthday party and this past week we found her on Facebook! We messaged her and asked if we could call her and she said yes so we did and then we called and she had a friend and the friend wanted to learn too and then we called for another lesson a couple days later and her sister joined too and Nila Paw said she wants to be baptized but isn't sure if her parents will let her but she wants to be so that is so amazing and and also she wants to come to church next week and we are so happy and excited! Okay okay... Try reading that in one breath. But point being, it was awesome and we are super happy about her and her friends!
-- WE GOT TO GO TO THE TEMPLE THIS WEEK I REPEAT, WE GOT TO GO TO THE TEMPLE. We didn't go inside but we went to film a video outside and it was so wonderful being there! Paw Bree Wah and I have sung many many times together on the mission and neither of us sang before the mission... I love to sing with Sister Freeman because she has the sweetest voice and that is where some of my most spiritual moments have come from! Especially when we sing with Pee Haw Paw (yes pee in Karen means grandma) over the phone and it is the sweetest thing. Okay story time but one time we were singing with Pee and she started singing and we weren't ready and Pee didn't know the words so we were trying really hard not to laugh and we would take turns going in and out so we could laugh in between and holy cow was it a party. Good thing God has a sense of humor or I wouldn't get to meet all of you in Heaven because you know, I might just be the funniest person you've ever met! But I don't know cause you know Brooke and she is pretty dang funny!
-- Okay next! We had a lesson with a member named Sher Paw and she is the cutest girl. We hadn't been able to get in contact with her because her phone was out of service but it was super sweet when we finally did! We taught her God's Plan of Happiness which she had many questions about which were really fun to answer and talk about. At one point she asked if we're going to have a fatty feast in heaven and oh boy do I hope so. That would be one long table! Can you imagine? "HEY PETER COULD YOU PASS THE POTATOES?!". Well, we all called dibs on who we wanted to sit by. Sister Freeman chose King Benjamin who her husband will end up being like in 45 years and I can't remember the second one but it was probably Jesus.
Alright, now onto the spiritual thought to make up for any irreverence I may have caused. I will share something that Sister Freeman shared from her personal studies this week that has stuck with me. She talked about how we need to be intentional about the things we want. For example, you can't plant an orange seed and expect an apple to grow. The things we do lead to the people we become and if our goal is to become like Christ then we should be doing the things He is doing❤️. Sister Freeman has been an amazing example to me of this that we can all learn from. In Preach My Gospel (a little book we study as missionaries to help us teach), there are attributes listed called Christlike attributes! Paw Bree Wah has been working on every single one for the past few transfers and she exemplifies them so well! Patience is one that has always stood out to me about her which has helped me so much as that is one I needed to work on. So just glean from this! Surround yourself with people who help you grow like Paw Bree Wah has helped me grow. Read about and study Jesus Christ's life because that is ultimately who we want to become and what better time than now as we celebrate His divine birth. Sending our love from Minnesota --the place of no snow as of right now.
Sincerely,
Sister Freeman's better half hehe just kidding she's an angel!
But it's your girl, Wah G'Bru aka Sister Norton
