Hello everyone!! Wow it has been quite a week! It really is true what they say about missions: days feel like weeks and weeks feel like days! We have been SO busy and it has FLOWN by!
I have learned so much about our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and their wonderful plan this week! I don't even know where to start!
Let me just first tell you that You have a loving Heavenly Father, and He wants to hear from you! If there is one thing I have learned it is the importance of communicating with Him! So, if you don't pray, try it! If you do pray, pray more often! It is such a blessing to have a relationship with God and to be able to recognize His hand in your life!
Here at the MTC (Missionary Training Center), all day, every day, 24/7 is centered on the Savior. Our sole purpose is to "invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ AND His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end." It makes me so happy to think that if we accomplish our purpose, we are bringing so much joy to so many people!
Now, FOR ANYONE DEALING WITH A HARD TRIAL, whether you are a member or not, here is some food for thought... we all deal with hard things sometimes caused by others and sometimes caused by ourselves. During those hard times, many people turn to drugs, alcohol, their phones, the internet, social media, and other sometimes toxic environments. Let me tell you that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is way more effective, long lasting, and comforting. I have had so many ups and downs in the past week and the only places I can really turn here in the MTC are to my companion (the amazing Sister Goldman), my teachers/leaders, my district, and most importantly, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Please learn to turn to those around you and to God. HE ANSWERS PRAYERS.
A COOL STORY
A Sister in my district was called on to give a talk in church on Sunday (our zone president has everyone prepare a talk and then he calls on 3 at the meeting) and she used a really cool analogy. (Let me try to adequately explain it like she did). So the topic was Faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement: So there was this man flying in an airplane and he, despite the instructions he was given, decided to jump out of the airplane. He soon realized that the Law of Gravity is unrelenting. He tried flapping his wings to fly. He tried slowing his fall by laying flat but to no avail. He then felt something on his back: his friend who was riding in the airplane with him had sensed that he would make the foolish jump so he had placed a parachute on his back to save him when he did. The man hurried and pulled the rip cord and was saved. Now the question is was the law of gravity broken? No. In this life, we have the Atonement of our Savior to save us from sin, pain, suffering, and death: the unrelenting laws of this world due to the fall. But if we have faith to pull the rip cord and use the Atonement, we can be saved and feel that peace and comfort.
I also challenge you to read the Book of Mormon and APPLY IT TO YOUR LIFE (like literally every verse)! Holy Moly! I learned this week how to read the scriptures this way and it is amazing!
GUYS! IDK if y'all know but ALL OF THE 12 APOSTLES AND THE FIRST PRESIDENCY HAVE BEEN AT THE MTC THIS WEEK! All of the missionaries are so excited and it's so funny to watch how we react when we see them around campus Haha. At our devotional on Sunday, PRESIDENT HOLLAND SPOKE! HOLY MOLY! It was SO GOOD. He talked about our missionary purpose and then about the Atonement and by the end of the day, our whole district was just crying as we talked about what we learned!
Gospel literally means "good news" and it really is!
I love you all and I love this gospel!
Also! Shout out to CC and Kayla getting ready to come out on their missions! I'll see you soon Sister Brooksby ;)
Love, Sister Freeman
