Carlsbad, CA Regional Meetings-- Day 2

Megan and I woke up at 5am to get a 4 mile run in... it was so pretty-- downhill all the way to the coast and pretty hilly back and forth, especially at the end going back. Then we walked most of the uphill back to the hotel. We had such a good talk and running and walking that it didn't even seem hard at all! We saw all the surfers waiting to catch waves or surfing and all the people walking their dogs along the sidewalk where we ran. When we got back the boys were up and READY and HUNGRY, so we went straight to breakfast and had such a nice meal together before Bill and Todd had to rush off to their meeting. Brooke and I went to the gym and did and upper body combined with core workout and some stretching exercises afterward... it was fun to exercise with her too! We showered and got all cleaned up and while the men were in their meetings we spent the rest of the morning at the Carlsbad Strawberry Patch and it was SO MUCH FUN! The boys got to ride the trike "tractors" and Luke had an absolute ball picking the strawberries with the scissors they gave him! There were big, red, ripe strawberries everywhere and the Lukey Bear was on the prowl! Both Logan and Luke and even us girls were eating as we were picking and they were so sweet and fresh! There was a nearby sunflower field and Brooke loves sunflowers, so we got a few shots there, too! Luke saw some bounce houses so he took off running-- I was trying to keep up and see where he was going. When I caught up to him, we realized that they were closed, so we couldn't go in them. He was kinda bummed! He and Logan enjoyed dancing to some music on a little stage for a few minutes though. After Bill and Todd got out of their meetings, we all went to lunch that was provided for our Edward Jones group and then we headed off to South Ponto beach where the region had chairs, umbrellas, games and snacks set up. It was super fun, but with "June Gloom" it was kinda cold actually! The water was freezing. The boys really enjoyed building and tearing down the sand castles. (Actually me building and Logan destroying!) Luke enjoyed looking for sand crabs and running from the waves coming in! All the stuff I remember as a kid!! Afterward, we went to the pool and hung out in the hot tub and we ordered some fruit smoothies. I shared mine with Logan while we cuddled, because he was cold! Later on after we cleaned up (again!), we went to the Edward Jones dinner that was outside and Luau themed. They had SHAVE ICE which is Brooke's FAVORITE! The one time she comes to Regionals and they serve shave ice. They've never served it in the 27 or so years we've been coming to these things! She wasn't feeling super well, but Maritz brought her some pain medication for her migraine and she felt better pretty quickly! She didn't eat much dinner, but Bill brought us both a shave ice and then she and I both waited in line for quite a while to get ANOTHER one!! We got to choose our flavors that time around and they were so good! We shared them as we walked back to our room, shivering and freezing the whole way! Megan and Todd and the boys had already gone to bed-- the boys were really tired. We wore them out!! Another really fun day...
