Reunion Continued...

Mr. Tom Forbes took us on a tour of the campus this morning. It is so crazy how much has changed and how modern and beautiful it all is! It has the feel of a nice community college rather than a high school campus!!! They have beautified it as well! There are so many new buildings including some 2 story classrooms where the tennis courts used to be, a new administration building, new gyms and practice areas, state of the art stadium seating classrooms and a performing arts center with a huge, beautiful auditorium that even has a mezzanine level! Everyone on our tour was just amazed at all the changes. They took out the old pool and built a new one and put another practice gym in where the old pool used to be. There is no diving board anymore, so they don't have a dive team. BUT, they have an 11 lane pool which I thought was pretty interesting. That is a beautiful venue as well. It was fun to walk around and see all the new things. The 2 story classroom building was built to accommodate the incoming Freshmen when they went from a 3 year high school to a 4 year-- which was pretty soon after I left-- I believe it was in 1992. It was fun to talk to Mr. Forbes who was really involved in our field shows and band practices when I was there. Later, he became a teacher there and continued working with the band as an assistant band director. I thought he was the assistant when I was there, but apparently not. He still looks the same, but a little older now and he retired from teaching in 2019. So crazy!! It is a beautiful school and ranks in the top 1% in the NATION for academics-- which doesn't surprise me AT ALL!! What a fun morning! Robin went with us on the tour, as well. All 3 of us were so dumbfounded and amazed at all the new (to us) construction and how beautiful and modernized the campus is-- and yet there are still buildings and things there that haven't changed at all! Afterward, we went to Twohey's for lunch-- so fun! I got a yummy sandwich and we all got sundaes for dessert! Cindy Zoltan joined us and it was fun to catch up with her-- she's had a pretty crazy life! After that we went back to Robin's house and watched BYU beat University of Arizona! Wooohoooooo!!!! Then Allison and I went to the main event/diner at the Arcadia Community Center. There we saw quite a few more of the members of the church-- Jenny Meeks (Ballard), Erica Greathouse (not sure her married name), Jacque Vercillo (Moore), Carl Edgington and Cindy Zoltan was there as well. Mr. Tom Landes-- our band director, was there and he still looked the EXACTLY same only with white hair! I forgot how TALL her was!!! It was fun to talk to him and Mr. Peratore-- who was never my history teacher, but he was fun to talk to... I made the mistake of telling him I loved World War 2 history and he quizzed me on some things. I did pretty well, I just didn't know the dates! Hahahaha! He wanted me to tell him a date and there's no way I'd remember that! Cool guy!! We had yummy burgers and fries and played Jeopardy with all sorts of fun facts from when we were in high school-- about the campus and popular music and other things at the time. It was nice to visit with people, but I was ready to go home when we left. We headed out at 10:30 even though it wasn't technically over until 11. We got home and played ANOTHER game of Shanghai, but this time I WON!! So all 3 of us had a chance to win this weekend! We stayed up until 3am (way too late!) talking and then headed to bed!!!
