Soooooo much happened this week holy moly. We had 2 General Authorities (Elder Stanfill and Elder Corbitt) come to the mission. They answered literally all of my questions that I wrote down that I've been thinking about lately. We had a lot of meetings where I got to talk to them and get to know them really well! One question I had was how to not go backwards. I have learned so much here and I can bet every missionary has a similar worry of moving backwards when they return home from their missions (yeah I know CRAZY I only have 2 transfers left y'all AHHHH) either spiritually or in the abilities grown and developed here with 100% dedication to the Lord. Elder Corbitt then gave a WHOLE DISCUSSION on LOOKING FORWARD WITH AN EYE OF FAITH. (Alma 5:15) He talked about how a lot of us look:
Back with regret or shame from our actions even if we have repented or not.
Sideways to others as we compare and that only leads to jealousy, pride, or discouragement.
Downwards at our own faults and weaknesses or giving all credit to ourselves for any accomplishments and no glory to Christ.
BUT forward is keeping our eyes constantly on Christ. To have hope and faith for the future filled with blessings He has promised but we have not received yet. To give all credit to Christ's strength and leaning on Him to pull you higher than you could ever by doing what others do, or on your own.
Looking forward with an eye of Faith is focusing completely on Christ. As I do this, I cannot go back-- my very being has been changed through Him and even my agency is different now because I know more than I knew then. I am soooo grateful for my personal Redeemer and loving Heavenly Father.
I got to see soooooo many LEGENDS this week. My bestie Risky (love that slay girl boss queen) and Hermana DAVE my AZ bestie. MORTYYYYY and everyone from Columbia ahhhh. I literally love everyone here. I feel like I have a big fun fam and we all support each other--it's epic. Relationships are always best when connected to Christ that's fo sho. We put our buddy David on date for baptism this week. Please pray for him! His brother kicked us off the property and David has no way to communicate with us, so it's a really hard situation. We can only text his brother who hates us and David, so pray for his heart to be softened and the adversary to be overcome as David moves forward with this incredible step back to Heavenly Dad.
I'm also in a brostrict (district with all elders) for the first time since training--its a party... #facemasksandchairsoccer and games of chicken apparently rock paper scissors style lol. Saw some trunky Halloween decorations this week hahaha and the weirdest spider I've ever seen looked like Bowser from Mario cart. Also ate alligator for the first time. YUM JUST YUM. Celebrated Sister Smith's (super lit senior couple in our zone) birthday and what does an amazing husband get his wife for her birthday besides an epic nerf gun? I don't know. Just don't know. 'Cuz yeah she pulls up to pday today and destroys us. (Side note: Sister Ray and I signed a bunch of nerf bullets with Alma 2:36 heehee and our goal is to get a nerf bullet inside every missionary car in the zone by the end of the transfer. We got half the zone today too. We are quite literally slaying.) Also I love to see kids at church-- they are so entertaining baha. We had our own personal GPS this week named "wiggle butt"-- this cutie dog we befriended while looking for a family. We off-roaded just a little a lot and wiggle butt led us back to the road and still tried to follow us for a hot second after holy! He is so cute. We filled up his water bowl and from that moment we were best buds:)
LOOK FORWARD WITH AN EYE OF FAITH.
Focus on Christ.
And get yourself a nice nerf gun for funsies.
LOVE YALL SO SO MUCH<3
