Hopefully you got the Monsters Inc. reference in the title of this email. If not.... shame. But this week has been SUPER eventful!!!
Seeds of Faith
The body of Christ
We were talking about this in Sunday School at the Marion Branch yesterday and Sister Cabaniss (a spiritual GIANT) said something that stood out to me:
"Even if we didn't have our baby pinky toes we would have to learn how to function and walk again in a different way.... so if you are the littlest baby pinky toe of the body of Christ, be the BEST pinky toe you can be!"
Kinda silly but TRUE!!! No matter how little or insignificant we feel, we all are needed and should magnify the callings we have no matter how big or small. And our roles change over time and for different people. Our prophet President Nelson wasn't always what you could say is a major organ like the heart for the body of Christ. He probably was the pinky toe at one time or another. But God prepares who He calls and the prophet learned how a heart works for people (as a heart surgeon and father) and for the church because God strengthened him with every beat and heart building experience of his life. I feel like a pinky toe but then people tell me how critical I was for their conversion; to myself I am a pinky toe but maybe to others I am an arm lifting them in the right direction. Maybe you are a leg leading the way but others are able to see Gods plan clearer through your eyes! Basically whatever you are and whatever people see you as, BE THE BEST PART OF THE BODY OF CHRIST THAT YOU CAN BE. We can all be unified in this as we all become one like the Savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father:)) <3
Pockets of Fun
☆Decluttered our apartment last pday and had the genius idea to throw our trash off the balcony so we did bahaha. It was funny.
☆Sister Loveless also gave me a haircut last pday.
☆Spent hours planning for our Zone Conference and guess what... it was CANCELED because we got evacuated:((( so sad butttttt...
☆HURRICANE EVACUATION ROUND 2 BABY: Can't believe I was in a zone that got evacuated again this year--same as last year lol. But it was an ABSOLUTE PARTY in my old stomping grounds on SUMTER SOIL BABY. Stumpy Dumpy will always have my heart.
-GOT TO SEE SNOOP DOG (John Brownlee) AGAIN AND SING OUR CHICKEN FEET RAP AHHHHH...
-Talked to some epic people with Sister Kennison since we got to proselyte our first day in Sumter!
-Called... A TON of people!
-Sister Carter (Jo) and Kenny are CRAZY FUN. I LOVE THEM SOOOO MUCH!!
-Jo did parcore and we did partner yoga around the apartment lol.
-Made some jewelry.
-Killed lots of bugs. (A roach crawled over Jo's knee BLEHK.)
-Had dinner at DAD'S HOUSE AGAIN OF COURSE. (I swear if God allows me to go see them every transfer before I go home, I will be the happiest person ever!) Morty got to play Lacrosse like she did in Highschool and they made a hurricane Idalia pie lol. There were literally so many Sisters there with all the evacuees. (There was Sumter North, Conway, Sumter South, and Surfside Sisters all there. It was an absolute PARTY!) The OUTTA POCKET BELL IS ALIVE AND STRONG (we ring it whenever someone says something uncalled for and it is rung basically the whole night lol) and I got to talk to MO AND DAINES OVER THE PHONE since Dad, Adam, and Nick called them so that whole thing was just the EPICEST TIME EVER!
-May have stayed up later than we should have during the hurricane aha...
-I think my blood was 70% Dr pepper and 30% Chick-fil-A after that evacuation lol!
-I JUST LOVE ALL THE SUMTER SISTERS SO MUCH. LITERALLY SOME OF THE FUNNEST DAYS OF MY MISSION WAS THAT HURRICANE!!
☆OK finally to the rest of the week hahaha! WE SAVED A TURTLE! He got washed into our apartment pool from the hurricane so we used a pool net to scoop him out and we carried him to the pond right next to the apartment. Ricky was either super excited to get back to his home or terrified of us cuz that's the fastest I've ever seen a turtle run lol!!
☆Went to Conway ward's barbeque and a lot of non-members came and partied with us! It was super fun and a cool way to naturally talk to them and get to know people not of our faith.
☆Tyreal taught US in the lesson we had this week and he had us draw a cute PRAYER HAND to help us remember things to pray for. It was so cute! You trace your hand and each finger means:
Thumb: family; "If the fams OK it's a big thumbs up!"
Pointer finger: People pointing you in the right direction.
Middle finger: (Because it's the tallest* lol) Leaders in the government or leaders in the church or your parents, etc.
Ring finger: (The weakest finger but also the one with a vein directly connected to your heart. That's why it's where you put your wedding band.) Pray for those who are weak or sick.
Pinky finger: Yourself because prayers can be very selfless and if we humble ourselves before God, He can help. So it's the littlest one.
☆Had a ton of super fun lessons from people we started talking to on the streets as we were driving. I'm super excited to start teaching them the restored gospel!
☆Casey is still doing well. Continue to pray for her to have strength before she gets baptized:)
☆Y'all I have the funnest/funniest comp (we laugh all the time) and we do EVERYTHING fun on pdays so it's so hard to talk to all of y'all. I'm sorry... and we have to get other stuff done too lol but I love you soooooo much!
