I learned SO MUCH at our Zone Conference with President and Sister Hamblin this week!! President Hamblin is literally one of the most humble, hardworking, and loving people I've ever met!!! So a big theme this conference was strengthening relationships. Relationships with God, ourselves, members and people we are teaching. President emphasized the genuine love we need to have for people. His wife, when introducing President Hamblin said something that hit me hard. He is a physician but he would go way further than helping with physical problems. With many of his patients he would go serve their family when day to day things were overwhelming for them or invite them to his own house to show his care. He would go the extra mile to get them what they needed whether that was food or to just talk. She said, "President Hamblin not only served people as a patient but as a friend."
Then they talked about the ONLY piece of advice that the prophet, President Nelson, told them in their interview with him:
"Love each other"
How do we strengthen our relationships with God, Jesus Christ or our friends? We go the extra mile to gain that love and show love. We don't make people feel like projects; we make them feel like family.
Charity is not something we work really hard to get on our own. It is a GIFT from God. We ask Him to give us experiences and guidance to help it grow, but ultimately the pure love of Jesus Christ is a gift that only comes as we connect ourselves to Jesus Christ in every way we can! Pray for this Gift. Because without it, we are nothing!
Pockets of Fun
-We went to a part member fams house and Sister Carmichael talked literally the whole time about Donny Osmond and his family. I feel like I'm an expert now. Kinda crazy how crazy London girls went for him. Literally a couple locked themselves in a package hooked up to oxygen and mailed themselves to his hotel room!!! Crazy crazy baha!
-Had some AWESOME lessons this week!
-At Zone Conference we had a fast walk race baha and Sister Mo and I WON! (At least for the girls and most of the guys lol.) The videos of everyone are SO funny!
- I got to see BESTIES from my Augusta and Nexton districts. SO FUN--I LOVE THEM. Got to see Sister Dave, Elder Jack, Elder Diaz, and Elder Roe!! It was a party!
-We tried to help a guy sell his car aha!
-Got absolutely DRENCHED with the rain this week.
-Got stuck in a literal FLOOD like no joke--the water was like 2/3's up our wheels. Mo got some pretty funny videos of us freaking out but we should not have driven in it. It was lowkey very sketch aha!
-Had a dinner with the other Elders in our ward at the Pearson's and ended up filling Elder Roe's nonexistent eyebrows in with Sister Pearson's makeup--it was pretty iconic.
-One of my recent converts from Charleston got me a spoon ring bender thing so I can make spoon rings now!
-Momma Stew gave us a tour of her cute house at our member meal with them.
Gratitude
