Rest Day and Lisjak Olive Oil Farm...
7.19.2023

Today we decided to hang around the hotel and rest up a bit. It is a gorgeous hotel. The area has a very Mediterranean feeling to it, but it is also very lush and green too. Also, very hilly! Tonight, we went on the Jones Theme Evening dinner to the Lisjak Olive Oil farm. It was a super cool place with lots of modern architecture! And LOTS of olive trees! After dinner, we got to taste several different kinds of olive oils that are infused with garlic, chili peppers, lemon, orange, etc. They were really good accept it was weird to taste olive oil all by itself! They taught us how to know if an olive oil is a good one or not by the way it reacts in your throat! If it makes you cough a little bit as you swish it around and hold it in your mouth before you swallow, it’s a good and pure oil! They also had a lot of really cool things made out of olive wood with trees that no longer produce. It’s a very heavy wood! Very pretty though! They served vanilla ice cream with their lemon infused olive oil sprinkled over the top and chocolate sprinkled with their orange infused olive oil and they were SO GOOD!! The owner explained that they infuse them when they press the olives. So they put the olives in with lemons or oranges or whatever, and press them together. They don’t add an oil to the olive oil later. She explained that this is why the flavor is so strong. It was a very interesting night and the food/dinner they served was superb! Very gourmet!
