Hey y'all! And happy August!
Highlights:
>We had a lesson with one of our friends this week and he was in SUCH a funny mood! Haha he just kept talking and saying funny things!
- (while reading the Book of Mormon) "The Nephites became evil again? This is annoying"
- (goes off on some rant) "cool right?"
- (before reading the next page) "OK GUYS! No looking. No reading. What do you think's gonna happen?... OK let's READ!"
> We celebrated Sister Norton's birthday this week! So fun! (lots of ice cream :)
> We called a member this week and randomly really wanted her daughter to answer which like doesn't happen so idk why we thought it would but then it did! Haha yessss #tendermercies
> We had lessons with these two sisters this week separately and taught both of them about how we have a prophet on the earth today and it really stood out to me how the Spirit helps us teach the same lesson differently depending on the people! God is so individual!
> We read the Book of Mormon again with one of our friends and at the end she bore her testimony of how the Book of Mormon teaches her pure things! I thought that was interesting wording but it's true! The Book of Mormon is pure! She also bore a cool testimony about how she knows God helps us understand the Book of Mormon and each other!
> We had zone conference this WEEK! President and Sister Richardson gave some amazing training! They love movies and quoted Star Wars "stay on target" and made that a theme for our service here as well as another quote, "what ever thou art act well thy part" and they talked about how we are all in this together and all have our own very vital roles to play in order to succeed together! It was AWESOME! I can't do it justice but they really are just amazing.
> We also got to go to MLC this week and what I have been thinking about that is how Christ was the shepherd right? And when we take upon ourselves the name of Christ we ought to try to be like He was and I've just been thinking about how we all are Christ's sheep but on another spectrum we all have sheep that we need to help and care for. God trusts us to care for the people around us like Christ would!
> After MLC we were talking to President Richardson and he is just so awesome! He wants to learn how to bear his testimony in Karen!
> Something that keeps standing out to me is how important laughter is! I think laughter might be one of the best cures for just about anything!
> We got to go to church yesterday and it was a testimony meeting and wow there were so many amazing testimonies borne! We had a couple of our Karen friends come which was exciting and one of the old Karen women bore her testimony and asked me to translate so that was terrifying but fun! I think she went easy on me but I still didn't understand everything lolol!
> OK so a cool story!! Probably about a month ago I had a prompting to do a kind act of service and did it and then this week I was having a rough time and praying really hard and then the PERFECT answer to my prayer came and it came because of that prompting that I did a month ago! When the answer came I felt the most distinct feeling of God saying to my heart "patience my darling" and wow it just melted my soul! Heavenly Father HAS A PLAN and HE KNOWS US so perfectly! If we listen we will be blessed!
>We had a cool experience this week talking to one of our friends who is kind of struggling and hasn't really been coming to church but we went to see her and were talking and she was telling us how unhappy she is and feels like there's something that she's missing and then she just looked at us and kind of got this knowing glimmer in her eye and then said oh I think I actually do know what I'm missing... That was a neat moment to me to know that even just us being there to listen and not even have to say anything to her to teach her something incredibly important! When life is rough, the gospel is ALWAYS the answer
> I had some really good studies this week! I am currently studying patience and the phrase that keeps coming up in my studies is"BE STILL and know that I am God." I think it is so so important to take that time and be still! OK also a story came up in my studies that I haven't heard since I was little but it is SO GOOD! It hit me so hard! It's a little folktale called The Three Trees! Definitely worth looking up!
Well that's my long rant for today.. "cool right?" haha I love this work! I really can't believe how fast this whole mission thing is going but I am learning lots and building so many relationships! These people are amazing! This work is amazing! I love you all and hope that you can see God's hand in your life!
