Best Week Everrr!!! (Brooke's Letter)

10.31.2019

Hello and Happy Halloween :)

This week has been SO GOOD!

First things first: HSA SOE.
So, Hsa Soe is the cutest kid! For the longest time, his grandma wouldn't let him get baptized which is sad, but this last week we randomly decided to go visit him and we walk in the door and he says, "My Grandma said yes!" At first we were confused but then we realized what he meant and we got so hyped!! HSA SOE'S GETTING BAPTIZED! I think we've said that sentence a thousand times this week! November 2nd! :) Apparently his grandma's heart was softened and that is such a miracle! This kid is seriously the best kid in the world! Let me try to show just how awesome he is. In one of his prayers after teaching him the gospel of Jesus Christ he said "Dear Heavenly Father, I will follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ..." How cute is that?! Also when we were planning his baptism, we asked who he wanted to confirm him in church and he thought for a second and then got this big smile and said, "wee Nelson!" (haha aka President Nelson)  He is just the best! Haha also, after learning about tithing, he went to his room and told us he had 20 pennies to bring to church to pay his tithing! He is SUCH a GOOD KID! And he deserves the best which is why we are so excited for him to get BAPTIZED!

Next things next: Th Blay!
Th Blay is the cutest! She is so prepared and ready to hear this gospel! We feel the Spirit so strongly when we are around her! She definitely has real intent and a sincere desire to follow God and she loves everything that we are teaching her! I just love her a lot! She has been praying to know if the church is true and God is telling her that it is!

Next things next: The cute family!
We found the cutest family a couple weeks ago! Ever since we met them I have felt this strange like connection to them! We were teaching them yesterday and asked them to go get their Bible and the daughter came back with a Book of Mormon too and we were stunned haha! We were like "Where did you get that!?" Apparently they had been taught a long time ago and moved! And now we found them! I am super excited to teach them!

Next things next: MPF (Mission President's Fireside)
I got to go to my first MPF this week!!! MPF is a meeting where converts to the church share their stories and experiences! Holy Guacamole it was amazing!! I felt the spirit so strongly that whole night! I know I say it a lot but THIS CHURCH IS SO TRUE! With every story, we could see how God has had a hand in each of their lives guiding them to the gospel! SO COOL!

Last things last: THE TEMPLE!!!
WOWOWOWOWOW :) This last week we had a Karen temple trip and it was AMAZING! First off, I LOVE THE TEMPLE! I literally could not stop SMILING! Which is also just because I LOVE THESE PEOPLE! Haha I think I've written that in my journal like every day this week! These people are just so humble and kind and amazing! There was definitely a special happiness in the temple that day :)

It was such a good week! So many happy days :)

This week (and every week haha) I have been studying a lot about faith and have some quotes worth sharing :)
- "Faith is moving forward into the unknown armed only with hope and desire" The unknown is one of the most scary things to me but I know that I can do all things through Christ! I can have faith!
- I also read the story about Christ and His Apostles when they were on a boat and a storm picked up while Christ was sleeping. They started to fear and woke Christ up saying, "Carest thou not that we perish?" Christ calmed the sea and then asked "How is it that ye have no faith?" They were scared and doubtful and where fear and doubt are, faith goes away. It is in those stormy times that it is hardest to have faith but remember that Christ will calm the storms in our lives! We have to have faith!

Also, if you are looking for another great podcast, "Conversion of a Catholic Priest" is reeeeeeally good! ;) MPF is kind of like everyone telling their stories like that!

Anyway, sorry for a bit of a long email this week!

Happy Halloween! I'd love to hear how you are doing! I'd also love to hear about your conversion stories or how you came to know the church is true or just your testimony about God :) I love you all! (ယအဲၣ်သု "yuh eh thu") God bless you! (ကစၢ်ယွၤဆိၣ်ဂ့ၤသု"guh sah ywah soe ghay thu")

Love, Sister Freeman (ဖီပြံဝါ "paw bree wah")

Relay Meet and Pizza Party with Liberty...

10.25.2019

Today was the relay meet and pizza party with Liberty.  There are a lot of members of the church on both teams… kinda fun!  Katelyn knows a lot of them.  It was fun to watch all the silly relays and see them have such a good time!  The first 7 pictures are of the 8 man t-shirt relay.  This one was so funny to watch!  It was hilarious watching them try to get the shirt off the swimmer and put it on the next swimmer, but they had it down to a pretty good science!  The last 4 pictures are of Katelyn and Hannah before the ring relay where you swim in tandem with each other and hold onto a swim ring.  The pictures are funny because they kept stepping up onto the deck and then down into the gutter trying to decide which was better and their conversation was so funny!  I should've video taped it instead, because it was funny!  They finally decided on the gutter but still weren't exactly sure what to do for the relay!  All of these silly relays were so fun to watch!  And the weather was beautiful again!  I can’t believe how FAST the swim season flew by!!  I can’t believe all next week is District team practice and meet and then the next week is State!  It went by faster than ever before I think!

Katelyn's Academic Letter

10.22.2019

Katelyn received her academic letter for last year (Sophomore) today,  but instead of having an assembly like they’ve always done, they just had the kids come and take a picture in front of the SMHS letters for the yearbook—that’s it!  The parents weren't invited!  I was kind of bummed that I couldn’t go… I’ve gone to all of those assemblies for my kids!!  Then I found out later that Katelyn FORGOT to go—Ugh!  (So the picture below doesn't even include her!  UGH!!)  She finally brought her certificate and bar home on Friday… so I still need to take a picture of her with it!! ;)  I’m a proud mamma!  I gotta take my pictures!  J  But she lettered and is getting straight A’s and I am very much a proud and happy parent that she’s doing so well even if I don’t get to go to an assembly and see her recognized!  I'm proud of her for all her hard work!!!

UPDATE:  I finally got my picture of Katelyn with her certificate and her bar yesterday--11/3/19!

We met Laman and Lemuel! (Brooke's Letter)

10.21.2019

ဂီၤလၢဂ့ၤ
Good Morning! :)

Another week here in beautiful Minnesota! And it's FALL! The leaves are a changin' colors and fallin' off the trees!

We have had some pretty neat experiences this week :)

-First off can I just say that THIS CHURCH IS SO TRUE! If there is one thing that my mission has confirmed to my soul it is that!

-There is Power in the Priesthood! This week, I really felt that power! There were a couple times this week where people were needing a blessing and we got to be there for it. In the first one, a friend was needing a blessing of comfort and one of the Elders in our district gave the blessing. I just remember as he put his hands on her head and said her name, I felt the Spirit so strong and a wave of power seemed to just enter the room.
The other blessing we got to be a part of was for a Karen friend. We asked one of the Karen Elders to do it and I remember him saying that he didn't know how to say things in Karen very well but he gave her a blessing and it was amazing! The Spirit definitely guided him! I know that there is power in Priesthood blessings and that Heavenly Father will communicate with us through that power!
-We are teaching this really amazing girl named Thu Blay! She is so cute and so fun! And SO COOL! In our last visit we had asked her to read from the Book of Mormon and when we asked her how that went she said that it made her feel so happy and that she felt a change inside of her as she read! The Book of Mormon is so cool and it can change us!

-We listened to a podcast this week called, "The Missionary Next Door." It is so good! If you have time, give it a listen!!

I love you all! I know God loves you and has a plan for you! Trust in His plan! I promise He has more joy in store for you than you can even imagine!
Love, Sister Freeman ဖီပြံဝါ
