This spring we had to take out our beautiful tree that was in our front yard, because it's roots were doing damage to our hardscape and driveway and it was really messy-- it never stopped dropping leaves and blooms, etc. and was getting to be a real nuisance! The same company that removed it, came and planted several shrubs and 2 new Queen Palms so that our yard doesn't seem so bare! We couldn't plant anything where the old tree was because the root system was so huge, but some nice shrubs are taking it's place. We planted 1 Queen Palm out in front by the side walk and then added another one next to our established Queen Palm to have a grouping there. (There used to be another Queen Palm on the other side of this one, but it died because it got choked out by the trees in the green belt next to our house.) We planted several shrubs and a pygmy date palm over by the big palm tree where there was a space from the old palm that was there. We planted some ruellas and a couple of natal plums by the entry way in front of the pillars. It looks so good! I love trees and GREEN!
