The Freshman Orientation was a lot of fun! They had balloons and signs welcoming us, and as we walked into the Cafeteria the band was playing in two lines, and we walked down the middle of them and then the student council was there to welcome us as well. Super fun and spirited! We walked into the Auditorium and found the Holmes who were saving seats in the front for us. Hinton's joined us as well and they brought MaKay Baker. Makay, Hannah, Sammy and Katelyn sat by each other and enjoyed hearing Mr. Svorinic talk (the principal) and other administrators and we watched the cheer team do their thing and the band played and we sang the fight song. Then we went around the campus afterward and followed the girls' schedules. Katelyn felt a lot better about finding her classes and wasn't so worried about not knowing her way around by the time we left. We even stopped by the student store on our way out and bought her a new SMHS t-shirt.
We came home and packed and got ready for the campout. The Higbees followed us up to the campsite, as well. They are so much fun! Mason had a ball exploring the outdoors and we all had fun visiting! We got off around 1 and made it to Prescott by about 3. I can't believe how green and pretty Prescott Valley and Prescott are! Those rolling hills coming into town reminded me a lot of Ireland! The drive in was so beautiful! Megan and I had a great talk all the way up the mountain, while Katelyn slept! (Mostly about all the boys in her life! Hahahaha!) When we arrived, we enjoyed swinging in the hammock and goofing around! A few other ward members had already arrived as well. I enjoyed watching Megan toss a ball with Caleb Van Wie who is in a wheelchair. She sat down and talked to him for a while. (I snapped a picture of that.) She is a sweet girl! Katelyn enjoyed hanging out with all her friends...Kobree Livingstone, Sammy, Hannah and Amanda Buckhannon and we saw quite a bit of deer roaming around the campsites as well. Katelyn and the kids her age all had a great time and the girls all slept in the same tent and apparently kept those around them up all night with their music and bursts of laughter, etc. Ugh. I guess you don't go to the Ward Campout to get a good night's rest, right?!? We ate a yummy breakfast cooked by all the high priests and had fun visiting with everyone. We weren't in a hurry to get home, so we headed back down with Higbee's behind us, about 1:00. Fun weekend!
