I got the phone call every mother fears today. McKenzie called me to tell me that she was involved in a car accident on the FREEWAY! She fell apart on the phone, but insisted that she was ok. She was really worried about the other people involved. (There were 4 cars total with only 4 drivers involved.) I could hear the fireman next to here telling her that everyone was ok and that there were only minor cuts. She was so worried. Megan and I went to the scene of the accident and it was horrible-- traffic was backed up like a parking lot, there was an ambulance, a fire truck and a police car and 3 other smashed cars. She was partially responsible for the accident, but only with the truck that was affected very little-- he drove away and had only minor damage to his fender. I felt like I was in a dream and that this wasn't really happening! She was really upset and I would manage to calm her down, and then she would start thinking about it and get upset again. We were at the scene for almost 3 hours while the policeman (super nice) did his investigation. Thankfully, Bill showed up and handled the towing and details of the accident...almost too much for me to bear on my own. We are so grateful that only her car suffered the consequences-- McKenzie was protected today and for that we will be forever grateful to our Heavenly Father who was watching out for her during the entire incident. We are grateful for this protection and know that He is real and was watching out for her today!! (The next day the Hart's brought over this candy bar--McKenzie's favorite!!)
