Love love love it here! Every minute is a blessing and I hope all of you have had a blessed week too cuz God is Good all the time & all the time God is Good!! Love y'all! (Sorry again for the long emails but I just have to cuz every week is so so good and eventful.)
Seeds of Faith
We've been doing the prayer knot game with a lot of member families this week and it's so fun to see them figure it out! Basically they start out with a string around 2 ft long and have to tie a knot just by holding it palms closed at both ends. They try to figure it out and can't do it because it's impossible... until we give them this scripture as a hint:
2 Nephi 32:9 But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul
We must include God FIRST in everything we do! So when we fold our arms to pray and THEN pick up the string we can make a knot:) This is so applicable to life! If we pray to God before and in ANY situation, He will make it beautiful and our souls will rejoice in it, even when things don't go our way or how we expect! I remember coming into the mission and being SHOCKED at how much we pray in a day! Before every single house, lesson, meal, study, morning, night, and even prayers of gratitude in between! It really does consecrate our performances to God--no matter how messy or awkward, He makes it all GOOD and people are changed by HIM.
*INVITATION*
Pray before EVERY SINGLE thing you do this week and see how it turns out! I promise so many blessings as you put God first before everything:)
Pockets of Fun
☆I went on a 200 ft zip line at the coolest fam ever--the WHITES house yesterday. It was lit. Also hilarious to watch Bro. White go down first and clear the spider webs. Heehee!
☆The Whites also fed us to break our fast on Sunday with Korean BBQ with Bulgogi and Potstickers.... I was in heaven--ate a full-sized plate load!!!
☆Someone had me look at their VR world lol with those new oculus glasses! So epic until she introduced me to one of her friends at "the crib" aha. There was a stripper pole y'all it was SO funny and surreal. Technology is so advanced and it's kinda scary! Not even to mention she had to get stitches from falling when she was playing a game with the goggles... crazy trippy!
☆HUNTED for an 8X jumpsuit for other Sisters in the Zone's baptism on Sat! Sis Livingstone (Livy) served in Sumter and remembered humungous white pants being at our building, so we brought those to them and took some funny pictures with me and Sister Harris in the shirt and Daines and Livy in the pants lol. We also pranked the elders who were trying to prank us first ahaha. It's a confusing story but it was so funny. They thought we were going to cancel Teresa's baptism! But it was all jokes and Teresa was baptized after an incredible spiritual conversion to the gospel--so so tender! I LOVE Livy and Harris. They are the cutest, fun and loving people:)
☆I COOKED FRIED CHICKEN THIS WEEK Y'ALL!! I mean the whole shebang with buying the raw chicken (which I have never done before) to frying those little tenders in the pan. So proud of myself! We don't have to talk about how the first three were raw and next three were burnt though aha but the last three---> BUSSIN BUSSING...
☆Saw my BESTIE Mac (Sista MacLellan) for possibly the last time on the mish on Tuesday:') She's already going home in 2.5 weeks y'all. That's not OK. That means I'm OLD too! Love her and her confident light--she's so epic. I'm gonna miss her!
☆Tried Bacon Beer Ice-cream at the AMAZING restaurant JO' Grady's with Ryan Howard. (We call him Dad--not sure if I mentioned that in other emails.) It's always soooo fun! He gave us 50 bucks to buy himself something on Father's day LOL! And the ice cream was a little strange at first but SO GOOD--salty and sweet and delish!
☆Built a bridge with Brother Geddings to help Dora be able to get to the memorial for her son (who died in a car crash) easier, instead of climbing through the ditch to it :( It was so bitter sweet to be able to help in a unique way, even if I was digging out steps and thorny bushes in a dress!
☆Met a super awesome friend Kenny this week! During our Restoration lesson we quoted Joseph Smiths account of the First Vision while showing him a painted deduction of it and he said, "It was cool-- as you were speaking the light in the picture got brighter and brighter!" The spirit was so so strong!
☆Met with a part member family and had an awesome lesson with Martha! Throughout the conversation she kept on talking about how she loved the Book of Mormon and how her 9 year old grandson has been asking for one to read too! In the last 5 minutes Terrence, the grandson came and was bummed he missed the lesson but when we gave him a Book of Mormon, his eyes literally lit up he was so excited and said he wants to learn more about Jesus! His mom (who is the member) wants to come back to church with both of them. It was so cool and they are the cutest fam:,)
☆We had recent convert lessons with Willie, Gallman, Johnny and Kaye and y'all the glow that they all have now is so amazing!! Especially Johnny and Kaye! Kaye said that she is so happy and the Holy Ghost is like God's love inside. I love it. If y'all saw them the first day we met, you would see how miraculous and incredible the gospel of Jesus Christ is. All of these people's baptisms have truly changed their lives and when I see all of them at church my heart is just so happy:)
☆Had some FIRE meetings this week! We have been working a ton with members. (Y'all it truly makes all the difference--please please talk to the missionaries they need YOU!) We invited members to come to the Zone Conference meeting this week! It was so cool to be unified and on the same page--excited for God's work! Sooooo amazing!!
☆Brother Smalley gave me the rundown on how to get rid of moles. He whipped out his flashlight and showed us all the tunnels he put smoke bombs and stuff in. He is very passionate about his work cuz they were ruining his yard lol.
