We celebrated the 4th today with a fun BBQ and swim party! We talked Robin into coming and she drove in late Friday night. We invited everyone here plus Shelby and Conner and also Scott, Emilee and Charlotte Beatie came! It was a fun evening and overcast as we swam in the evening… it started to get windy and the clouds got darker but everyone was having so much fun because it was so NICE outside! Eventually we had to get out because we saw some lightning in the distance. Everyone brought a dish to share and their own meat to grill—our family made shish kebabs. Everything tasted so yummy! After dinner we Megan, Me, Robin and Allison played Rook and Todd and Katelyn practiced their duet they are singing in a couple of weeks at church. Shelby accompanied for them. Robin and Allison won the Rook came by a little. Later they watched National Treasure—Todd’s pick due to the holiday… ended up all watching the 2nd one too, but several of us fell asleep while we were watching. I was one of those! Beaties left after dinner to put Charlotte to bed. Shelby and Conner stayed until pretty late. Grandma surprisingly came and stayed for the entire duration of the party! She seemed to do better on my couch this time. Robin brought homemade chocolate ice cream custard and her ice cream machine, but it broke so we used mine. It took a while for mine to freeze that many quarts, but we eventually got ice cream! It did end up raining during the festivities—pretty hard and then slowed down a bit. This made it so we couldn’t set off our fireworks. It would’ve been so fun to do the sparklers with Conner! Little kids love those! We had such an enjoyable evening. I always enjoy spending time with family! It truly is the best!!
