Freeman Family Reunion Day 1-- Getting Settled In...

7.19.2021

It has been such a fun week! The Freeman Reunion was definitely one for the books!! We traveled up to Utah today and got there just after 3pm Utah time. We were in the Blue Mountains near Monticello and it is so gorgeous up here—Aspens and Pines! The campground has a HUGE pavilion and a fully functioning kitchen with 3 refrigerators to use and 5 cute little cabins-- we were able to call for one of them, so we will  all sleep there. Bill and I have a full bed and Brooke and Katelyn have a bunkbed. There is a nice bathroom with a couple of showers as well. When we got there we visited with everyone and it was so good to see everyone! We then unloaded all our stuff and settled in and I got everything put in the fridge we shared with Jenell and her family. Jenell was so excited that we were there!  The girls went exploring with cousins and then we all ended up playing a super fun game of 9 square. They had it out in the field, but it got hot in the sun, so they moved it under the pavilion—that’s when I joined in! We all just relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company. No dinner was planned for that night, so our family drove into Monticello and had dinner at a cute Mom and Pop pizza joint called Thatzza Pizza. It was actually really good! It was pouring down rain, chilly and we were super hungry, so it all just tasted so good! It was an ice cream parlor too, so we got a cup with a couple of big scoops and shared that for dessert. And as if that wasn't enough... Brooke talked us into stopping at the local Shave Ice and getting a snow cone on the way back to camp!  We drove back to the camp (which is about ½ way between Blanding and Monticello) and enjoyed the rest of the night with everyone. I played Scum (or Boss, Worker, Bum) with all the teenagers in the kitchen where there was a big island perfect for playing cards… it even had stools to sit on! We played that for a while. I think it rained off and on, as well, but that first night definitely had the least amount of rain! Bill put on Luca for all the little kids to watch. Jenell brought a big movie screen with a projector.  It was a super fun day!!

hello
Hello! I’m Mindy. I love Spring and Fall weather, the BYU Cougars, reading, hiking and of course…my family! I LOVE being with them doing just about anything…but usually attending one of their games or just hanging out!
