We've had another wacky week!
- The day after Christmas we went to Karen New Year at one of the high schools nearby! So fun!
- I got a STORY from a CRAZY morning on Saturday! There was a really strange weather anomaly where the conditions were just right that the roads just froze to solid sheets of black ice! And this just happened to be the morning that we decided to go to the church for exercise time and it also just so happened to be the day that we didn't have our phone... SO we were slipping and sliding all the way to the church and then we were about to turn into the church but just kept sliding! I literally wasn't even driving the car! We just slid down the hill! So we finally get to the bottom at a stop sign and there are just cars everywhere they aren't supposed to be lol and people are trying to drive but not really getting anywhere and then we hear a horn honking and we see this huge truck bounding towards us and he can't stop so we are freaking out and then by some miracle he swerves and barely passes us going down the wrong side of the road! So crazy! So we finally get going and try to head back to the church but THEN we got STUCK! ON A HILL! And we don't have our phone! And the roads were so bad that you can't even push the car because you slide instead of doing anything! So we are praying so hard and we start scraping the road trying to get some traction and then! We see our bishop's car a little while a way so we just start yelling and flailing our arms and he sees us!!! So he goes to the church to get some elders to help us and then one of the scrape and salt trucks came down our street and laid salt down and we were able to get some traction and we got out! Then we drove home carefully and made it back safely! Wowowow it was a weird morning and pretty scary! But also kind of cool because those conditions had to be just right for something like that to even happen! I will say though we were very lucky to be safe... There were over 400 accidents in the space of 5 hours that morning and that number only includes the accidents on main roads so probably a lot more than that!
- Two baptisms were canceled (but rescheduled) due to the icy roads that morning!
- We got white carrot pho again! So good!
- Taught people about Jesus Christ and got to see the light in their eyes due to our message!
- Played volleyball a lot this week and got hit in the eye with the volleyball and had a red eye for the rest of the night but I still played! #enduretotheend
Spiritual thought:
You already know we're gonna talk about New Years! So it's a new year and I'm sure we all have our resolutions and 2020 goals right? Well I recently heard something that I really liked that I think would be a good resolution to have for 2020 and it's not hard or complicated! It is to simply think about Christ more! Every time you drink water or eat bread, think of the Savior and all that He has done for you! It's that simple! I know that thinking about our Savior more will bring us closer to Him and bring greater joy into our lives!
I love you all! I pray that you will feel God's love for you everyday this year and that you will show love to the people around you! Have a wonderful week!
