District Championship Finals

Today was an eventful day!  Katelyn first swam the Fly in the Medley Relay and they came in 2nd place! Her relay team was Taylor Walkenbach, Alyssa Walkenbach, Katelyn and Ally Scanlon. (That's the order they swam.)  Then she swam the IM.  She was seeded 5th and got 5th overall today!  They had a break for the medal ceremony up to that point and her relay team got their 2nd place medals.  Then she swam the 100 Fly and got 3rd place!  She was so excited!!  Last year she was seeded 3rd going into the finals in the 100 Fly and got bumped off the medal stand with a 4th place. This year she didn't let that happen again!  She was pretty pumped and I'm so proud of her!  She's worked really hard on her Fly!!  Then later on-- the very last event of the day (as always is our post!) Katelyn swam the 400 Free Relay as the anchor...they got 2nd place again!  It was an exciting race!!  So she was back on the medal stand again with her teammates Jesse Scanlon, Kinzie Whaley, Courtney Brown and Katelyn!  (That's the order they swam.)  The boys came in 2nd, the girls came in 2nd, and with the dive team results we kept our solid 2nd place this year.  We just aren't as deep as Liberty and they gained 2 of our faster girls this year that left our team, to boot!  It's been good as many have stepped up and risen to the challenge!  I've been impressed especially, with the boys team!  I can't believe how much they've improved this season.  It has been fun to watch them!  We got a nice group picture of all the team and just like that--it was over!!  To celebrate all of Katelyn's hard work, we went out to dinner (her choice) to Red Lobster...turns out all she wanted were the cheddar biscuits she loves there!  She filled up on those and could barely eat her dinner!  Then, McKenzie joined us for the movie, "Maleficent".  It was a great way to end a great day!  We all crashed when we got home!
