Starting President Nelson's Invitation to Read the Book of Mormon TODAY!!!!!

10.09.2018

After watching the Women's Session of Conference last night for FHE, Katelyn and I decided that we will read the Book of Mormon together each morning before Seminary at 4:30am!  We have to read between 6-8 pagers per day to have it completed by December 31st!  I'm impressed with Katelyn's desire to get up BEFORE Seminary everyday to do this in order to follow the Prophet.  It was my idea to do it when we discussed when we could possibly fit this into our schedule, but Katelyn readily agreed!  Then she stayed up late last night to do homework, and didn't complain at all when I woke her up at 4:30 this morning!  It was hard for me, but I can't imagine doing it with the little sleep she got last night!  It's only for less than 3 months, and there are great blessings that were promised by President Nelson.  He gave a 4 Fold invitation... one of them was to participate fully in RS and familiarize ourselves with the RS Declaration.  Jenny Farley sent me the pictures below to help me with the invitations.  The bottom is the excerpt from his talk where he outlines those promises.  Here's his invitation:

“Women shape the future,” he said. He invited us to help shape the gathering of Israel by doing four things:
1.   Participate in a 10-day fast from social media and from any other negative or impure media. President Nelson encouraged women to notice how the fast affects their priorities and then to record and act on spiritual impressions they receive.

2.   Read the Book of Mormon between now and the end of the year. President Nelson suggested that as they read, they mark each verse that refers to the Savior and talk about Him with friends and family.

3.   Establish a pattern of regular temple attendance. Time in the temple can lead to greater understanding about how to draw upon God’s priesthood power, President Nelson said.

4.   Participate fully in Relief Society. He added that studying the Relief Society purpose statement and the Relief Society declaration can help women understand who they are and who the Lord needs them to be.

Of the important work of women, President Nelson said: “My dear sisters, you have spiritual gifts and propensities. … I urge you, with all the hope of my heart, to pray to understand your spiritual gifts—to cultivate, use, and expand them, even more than you ever have. You will change the world as you do.”
