The Kangaroo Walkabout...
Peacocks were everywhere!
Who's the monkey?
Well hello there!
We sat and watched and laughed at this guy for a while...he was howling really
loud and swinging like crazy! These monkeys were really active and
interacting with the noises of the other monkeys nearby...playing off each other!!
Feeding the baby ducklings...Mom watching from close by! This little
family followed us for a while waddling as fast as they could to keep up!
"You turned him into a Llama? He's supposed to be DEAD!" -Ezma from
Emperor's New Groove-- BEST Disney cartoon EVER!!
Waiting for the Wildlife Encounters Show...
... I don't know... here's some pretty wild wildlife!
Feeding the beautiful Lory birds!
All 3 of the girls got birds, but not one single one came to me!
That's ok, someone has to man the camera!!
I love all the colors!!
Waiting for the Sea Lion Show. They showed how they train them. They are super smart!!
And SO cute!! We loved watching them!
Petting the Stingrays. I can't get over how soft and spongy they are!
We fed them too! Their mouths are on the bottom so it's tricky... you have to hold the piece of
fish flat up against the wall and they swim up flat against the wall to eat. They suck it up!
Pretty girls and pretty flamingos in the background!
We love Camels!!
We also fed the Giraffes!
Brooke has a phobia of sticky things...and this is about the stickiest of all things!
Eew!! So long, curly and sticky!
Oooh it really is sticky!!
I wouldn't want to be in front of or behind this guy!
Or anywhere without a nice big fence in between us!
The Petting Zoo!
Everything started out...
normal...
...still normal...
...feeding the CUTE baby Deer...
THEN... we met Vanilla Bean the Llama! Quite possibly the most sassy and full
personality animal we've ever met! She is 7 months old and VERY playful...
...she wouldn't leave us alone... in fact, Katelyn tried to walk away from her... Oh no, not
on "Bean's" watch. (That's what they call her for short.) When she walked away, Bean
charged her and put her front legs up onto Katelyn's back and shoulders. At that point the
employee in the petting zoo came running over.. "Don't run! She thinks it's a game and she will
charge you!! She doesn't do it to be mean, she just thinks you are playing, and she's 7 months old so she wants to PLAY!!" Well, Katelyn just walked away, but apparently a little too fast, or something because she got charged!!
She was a lot of fun though! That same employee asked jokingly if we wanted to take her home! She said, "I don't get anything done with her around! (I can't imagine why! Hahaha!) She wears me out... she drinks everybody else's water but won't drink her own. She's just a pest!" But you could tell she really liked Bean. She'd be a really fun pet! Katelyn, of course, was up for it! She was a pest though, and kept following us, so the lady kept giving us food to feed her. (She ate all the food we'd bought.) I think she felt bad that Bean ate all our food. At one point, Brooke turned in circles to see if Bean would follow her and eventually get dizzy, well she did, but Brooke got dizzy before Bean did! Bean could've gone on forever I think if food was around! What a cute animal!
The highlight of our zoo trip!! Good thing we got some good video of Bean.
She was really soft and super fluffy!
This baby was super shy! After we left the petting zoo, we went back to the Aquarium and explored around there some more... then we called it a day!! And what a fun, beautiful, breezy day it was!!
