I left at 2:30 to head up the mountain to Camp Lo Mia… but Bill called as I was about to get on New River road to I-17. He said I-17 was closed due to a really bad accident, so I diverted, took the Carefree Hwy over to the 17, down to the 101 and over to the Beeline Hwy through Payson the back way up to camp. It took me 3 hours! I’m not sure why it took so long, but I finally made it by 5:30. Our ward was already eating dinner when I got there, so I joined them. The girls were all so quiet and tired! They had done a really physically taxing obstacle course that took all day… so they were tired. Katelyn looked so tired and she was also sunburned—Bill too! They’d literally been outside all day in the heat and sun doing this crazy hard obstacle course. The bishop’s night was really cute—a Who Dunnit game where we had to guess which Bishop is was that went with the funny clue. We found out some funny/interesting/crazy stuff! The girls all loved it! Then the YCL’s sang such a beautiful song. I really felt the Spirit and I felt so much love for Katelyn. I couldn’t see her very well because she was in the back, but it made me kind of sad that this is her last year! I know she wasn’t even supposed to go this year, but since they didn’t have camp last year, she went ahead and went this year. It ended up being a really good experience for her. After the program, we divided up and went by wards for our testimony meetings. Our testimony meeting was really nice! Many of the girls bore their testimonies. Katelyn waited until the very end to get up and bear her testimony. What a sweet girl. I am just so proud of who she has become and she has had a lot of large obstacles in her way this past couple of years. Kylee Wright got up and bore her testimony and mentioned how she got on the bus to go up to camp and no one sat by her and all her friends were already sitting with someone else and then Katelyn got on the bus and sat next to her. She spoke of how good it made her feel that Katelyn did that. Katelyn made such a HUGE difference for someone with such a small act of kindness! That’s my Katelyn! She doesn’t just talk about being good—she just goes and does it! I love that about her! She is no stranger to being left out and knows first-hand how it feels. I had such an overwhelming feeling of love and pride in my momma heart! Katelyn is a kind soul! She is an example to me of looking out for others, even when you’re sad and your friends aren’t treating you the best! I’m going to miss her so much!!! After the testimony mtg., I got out the milk and cookies I brought up and visited for a while with everyone and then it was time for me to head back down that mountain home! I got off an hour after I wanted to—didn’t leave until 10:30! Google maps had me go through Payson AGAIN! But this time it only took me 2 hours to get home and I unloaded the car, went up to my room and CRASHED!
