Katelyn's SMHS Swim Team Awards Banquet

Tonight was the swim team Awards Banquet.  It was such a nice evening!  Katelyn was recognized with her Varsity Award—this time getting her bar.  She also got the Mighty Mustang Award—an award for making it to every practice and every meet—never missing anything!  Then, she got the Mustang Spirit Award for the girls!  This was a surprise to us and I was so proud of Katelyn in that moment!  To get this award you have to exemplify team spirit and enthusiasm in helping others to do their best as well.  It is an honor to be awarded this and I’m proud of Katelyn for her maturity in leading the team as one of the captains, but also for her never ending energy and encouragement to her teammates!  She’s such a great athlete BECAUSE of her sportsmanship… let alone her athleticism!  I think she completely deserved that award and I was so proud of her!  Check out the picture of Gavin Sorensen below (he's the one in the vest standing next to Katelyn in most of the pictures) ... He was the comic relief of the team and we are really going to miss him next year as he's a senior. It was a great season and fun to watch all of these kids compete!
