Saturday was a marathon day… we woke up at 4am (AZ time) and
were on the road by 4:15! We made it
home by 11:45am—that’s a record! I was sad the WHOLE WAY HOME and couldn’t stop
thinking about Brooke and how much fun we’ve had these last few weeks. We’ve spent a lot of time together getting
her ready for college and this last week was so much fun together!
We had time to unpack and shower and then it
was time to head to Tucson for the BYU v. U of A game with the Hintons. Luckily they drove so we didn’t have to worry
about that. We drove down to Tucson
(Yay! More driving!) and had dinner at the Cracker Barrel before the game. We missed the kick-off but got there pretty
soon after. It was a good game and BYU
looked good… then they scored a touchdown and we started to gain hope! They ended up winning 28-23! It was a crazy game and we let them back in
the 2nd half but they managed to hold them—even with all our
mistakes and penalties! It was just such
a fun win when our expectations were so low!
We just took in the fun atmosphere after the game and waited to get out
of the parking garage for almost an hour, so we didn’t get home until
2AM!!! Saturday was quite the day—lots
of driving and very tiring!
Brooke said their date with those 2 guys was fun… CC went
with Jared and Brooke with Austin. They
went to the BYU Women’s Volleyball game and they won, then they went to the BYU
Football game at Megan and Todd’s apartment (with Tanner!) and won again…and
she thinks Austin is really cute! His
name is Austin Lee and he’s from South Carolina and was raised by his
Grandmother. He served his mission in
St. George, Utah, which he just returned from a month ago. Brooke says that he’s really nice and
respectful and super easy to talk to. I
told her to date all the boys… no need to have a boyfriend yet, but it sounds
like she likes him…
I’m grateful for good kids!
And I’m grateful that they are progressing and doing positive things
with their lives! I wouldn’t want it any
other way… and I guess I miss Brooke so much because she is such a happy part
of my everyday life… which I wouldn’t want any other way! So, I guess it’s a good thing that I feel so
yucky? It’s just hard to let go knowing
that it will never be the same again. My
role as a mother is changing as my kids spread their wings and get more
independent. That’s what I’ve raised
them to do so I have to let it happen and accept my new role in their
lives.
It was super fun to watch the game knowing that simultaneously all my family in Provo was watching that same game on TV!!! I think Brooke really likes Austin...I don't want to be worried but I guess I am... a little...
