2017 TYR High School Classic Swim Meet @ U of A in Tucson

The first 2 pictures are of Brooke and Katelyn both doing the Breaststroke on the Medley Relay.  They were on 2 different Relays in the same heat!  It was fun to watch them both in the water at the same time!  (Hard to take pictures though!)  The next 3 pictures are of the 200 IM-- again, both Brooke and Katelyn swam in the same heat!  The first 2 pictures are of both of them waiting at the blocks and the 3rd picture is of Katelyn's underwater pullout.  There was some confusion, and the board had all the times wrong (way too fast) for this heat, so Katelyn, by mistake got 3rd place overall.  They called her name over the loud speaker, and of course, she wasn't expecting it, and had to run to the pool to accept her t-shirt.  Well, they got it all figured out and she did not get 3rd place, but she took major time off!  She dropped 9.20 seconds!!!!!  That's huge for the IM!  I hope to see her keep peeling off that time!  A side bonus to the whole thing was that she got to get a picture with 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist Matt Grevers-- So pictures 6-9 show all of that. Pictures 10 and 11 are of Brooke's Breaststroke. Pictures 12-21 are of the 400 Freestyle Relay to close the meet.  They swam the same relay this time.  Brooke swam first (to get an official time for the 100 Free), and Katelyn swam 2nd.  Got some good pictures of Katelyn cheering for her sister and their exchange.  It was a good race and fun to be on the same team!  Not pictured is Katelyn's 100 Free individual race from earlier.  She has a provisional State time in the 200 IM and is SO close in the 100 Free!  She almost had it today!  She's gotta get under that 1 minute mark and as close to 55 seconds as possible to swim it at State for sure!  Both Brooke and Katelyn have a couple more chances to qualify for State.  It's hard to believe the swim season is almost over!  It went fast this year. 

After the meet we met the team at Chick-Fil-A in Casa Grande for dinner, and then Katelyn and Brooke rode home with us.  Brooke's back is really hurting her and has been for a while.  I put icy-hot on it all day at the meet so that she could swim.  She hasn't been doing the exercises...I really think that would help her!  Overall, it was a great day!  Some frustrations with the clock and times-- those things SHOULD NOT happen at a college venue, but they did so we had to roll with it!  But, at least Katelyn got to take a picture with a swimming celebrity out of it!
