Halloween 2017!!!

The girls dressed up as Disney Princesses with t-shirts instead of costumes!  Cute idea!  Sammy Holmes was Moana, Shea Pribyl was Aurora, Katelyn was Rapunzel, Hannah Hinton was Belle and Makay Baker was Pocahontas!  I like the flowers Katelyn put in her braid!  Katelyn threw her t-shirt in the wash after Trunk or Treat and all the lettering came off in the wash, so she had to re-do all of her lettering.  Candy Baker printed out another sticker for her luckily.  She ended up with the same number as Hannah though... her number was originally #7.  They Trick or Treated through Sammy's neighborhood and then ended up in ours at our cul-de-sac party.  It was a fun party this year!  More families come every year and we end of with more yummy food to share.  It was a great Halloween!

District Swim Championships Finals!! (AND Mormon Helping Hands Service Project AND Trunk or Treat!!!)

It was an extremely busy (and tiring!) day!  We had 3 major activities we needed to be attending and they all overlapped!  We got the girls off to the swim meet and then Bill and I went early to the Mormon Helping Hands Service Project.  We cleaned up someone's yard and spread landscaping rock in their whole front yard.  When we got there we were the only ones (we got there an hour early) so I shoveled rock until some men got there and boy was my back sore!  It sure looked nice after we finished and it felt good to serve! 

Then we headed over to GCC for the Championship Finals-- all day long!  Katelyn started out with her 200 IM.  She did great!  She swam with fellow team mates Lindsey Thomas and  Kayden Brendel. She got 4th place overall and was a little bummed that she didn't get the podium, but I bet she gets better and better during high school and will be able to see the podium in future years!  She got a great start and looked really good throughout the whole event! 

Then she swam her 100 Fly and looked so good, but again got 4th place overall and missed the podium.  She shaved off even more time getting a 1:04!  (What Coach Stephan said...I never saw the official time.)  She swam with fellow team mates Hannah Young, Kayden Brendel and Tatum Hill. It was a good race!

Then Brooke swam the 100 Free with fellow team mates Calli Gregory, Ellice Richman and Alyssa Scanlon.  She did great but missed the podium with another 4th place!  (Kind of our spot today!)  It was a great race though...

 

 

Then Brooke swam her 100 Breast with Lindsey Thomas It was good enough for an 8th place ranking overall.  Then she came back and swam in the 400 Free Relay and they took 2nd place!  That relay team was Lindsey Thomas, Brooke, Connor Herrin and Kayden Brendel.

 

 

Here's the girls with Dad waiting for the results of the last 1/3 of the meet.  They got bored from waiting and started a huge water fight and got some poor girl all wet.  I'm sure she didn't mind too much, though, as it was very hot!  

Here we are... finally with the awards... a 2nd place medal and some podium for Brooke and her relay team! Connor, Brooke, Lindsey and Kayden.

Now we are waiting for the overall results...  Girls ended up taking 1st place overall and Boys 2nd place overall giving us a team score of 2nd overall with Liberty beating us out!  Dang!  They were so hoping to pull it off!  The girls were happy but at the same time bummed because they were hoping to sweep it all.  Maybe next year!

Now we're off to the ward Trunk or Treat!  McKenzie made/gathered the things for this costume and she was soooo excited to wear it!  She went as the 4th Dr. Who!  (She even crocheted the scarf!)

We brought Alyssa and Mason Higbee with us too.  Mason is the cutest Spiderman I've EVER seen and Alyssa was a cute 50's girl!  She did a great job on her costume!  Katelyn went as Rapunzel.  All of her friends had a different princess and wore different colored tshirts with the name and # on the back like a jersey! It was cute!  She put flowers in her braided hair!

District Swim Championships Prelims...

It was an all day affair down at GCC today!  The girls had a great day and are both returning tomorrow for both of their individual events in the A finals!  (Fastest heat where the #1 seed gets to choose music!  It's really fun!)  Katelyn and Brooke both swam in the Medley Relay.  Katelyn swam the backstroke and Brooke swam the breaststroke.  (Kayden Brendel swam the Fly and Callie Gregory swam the Free.)  Then Katelyn swam the 200 IM  at a 2:31.34 giving her a #4 seed for tomorrow's finals.  (She also bettered her original seed time by 2 seconds getting her deeper into the Provisional State times for this event!)  Then Katelyn swam the 100 Fly and her time stayed about the same at a 1:06.75 giving her a #4 seed for tomorrow.  Then Brooke swam the 100 Free shaving off a second for a 1:00.44 giving her a #4 seed for tomorrow AND getting her a Provisional State time for this event!  Then she swam the 100 Breast at a 1:20.62 with a #8 seed for tomorrow.  She dropped 3 full seconds from her original seed time!  Overall it was a great day!!!!
