Katelyn's Voice Recital and Memorial Day!
5.31.2021
It was a quiet Memorial Day! Megan was up in Utah for her sister-in-law’s baby’s blessing. So while Megan hung out with the Polley side there, Todd hung out with all of us here! We had an early BBQ for dinner that night with steaks, and then we hurried off to see Katelyn’s voice performance recital. She did such a great job and she’s only been taking voice lessons for 2 months! She sang “A Wonderful Guy” from South Pacific. It was fun to watch her perform. She was really nervous but you couldn’t even tell. She performed so well and she has such a beautiful voice! I love to hear her when she’s practicing here at home! I love it when she sings and plays the guitar too! I’m going to miss hearing that when she leaves for BYU! It was a fun night!!!
Lake Powell @ Lone Rock-- Day 4
5.27.2021
Thursday we slept in and enjoyed the morning playing cards and games… got on the lake that afternoon and enjoyed the water. It was a lot warmer so we were able to go surfing. The water was warm enough that we didn't need wet suits, too! Brooke enjoyed jet skiing while we were surfing-- you can see her in the background of Katelyn's pictures. She's getting pretty good at surfing too! I didn’t ever get a chance to go… but I enjoyed being out there helping with the rope and flag. We went out to dinner that night at Big John’s BBQ in Page. It was really good but we were super stuffed! Later on, after our food settled, Robin and Allison had brought angel food cake and strawberries for their dessert the night before that we never ate, so we had that. We played more games-- lots of Rook!!!
Lake Powell @ Lone Rock-- Day 3

Wednesday was a beautiful day but overcast and a bit cool, so we didn’t really go in the water. We slept in a bit more too. We took a boat ride down around part of Antelope Island and around in there, and then came back. It was fun to just be together and listen to our tunes on the boat. Tucker—Megan and Todd’s puppy came on the trip with us, and came along on the boat today as well. It was a really fun day! Robin and Allison made dinner that night—Spaghetti and Meat Sauce and a really nice green salad. We ate really well on this trip!
Lake Powell @ Lone Rock-- Day 2
5.25.2021
Tuesday we got to finally play on the lake! It was so fun to be there and with everyone. We camped at Lone Rock, so we pretty much stayed in that cove all day. Megan and Todd made dinner that night. They made really good hamburgers. Todd accidentally forgot the meat from home, so they went and bought more at Wal-Mart. (We made SEVERAL trips to Wal-Mart during the week.) They did a great job on dinner and we had fresh yummy watermelon with it. Funny highlights from the day were Todd going to all the work to put his wet suit on and realizing that he'd put it on backwards once he got it all up! (I brought it to his attention feeling badly that I hadn't noticed he was doing it until he got it almost all the way on!) Another funny incident was Brooke and Katelyn trying to get back to the shore when the jet ski stalled out! We watched them from the boat... We had a great time surfing and chilling today!
Camping at Lake Powell at Lone Rock!
5.24.2021
Well what a week at Lake Powell! Everything was so much fun! We spent the day getting our camp set up and waiting for our trailer to be delivered, but we made a little camp with our stuff and visited while we waited. We found a good spot on the beach but it’s a pretty good walk to the lake. We don’t have 4 wheel drive, so we have to park a little further away. We finally got our trailer and were able to completely set up camp. Bill got the boat docked and ready to go. It was our night to cook and I brought Café Rio sweet pork salads. It tasted so good—everyone was really hungry. We roasted S’mores for dessert and sat around the camp fire. We stayed up playing games and enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery-- we even watched a movie outside after it got dark! Katelyn brought her guitar, and it was fun to listen to her play. She learned “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles and played it the whole week as she practiced. She even made a video of it. Brooke played around behind her in one of them-- hilarious! It was fun to have music during our down time!
